Job Description:

We approach problems with creativity and innovation. Schnabel is seeking a part-time Civil Engineering Intern to support our growing business. The emphasis for this position is broadening the intern’s practical knowledge and experience by applying professional principles to real problems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in performing civil, hydraulic, and mechanical analysis and design of large-scale water projects, such as water conveyance facilities, dams, and fish hatcheries.
  • Preparing construction plans
  • Drafting reports
  • Performing construction observation and materials testing
  • Some travel may be required

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program
  • Senior and graduate students only
  • Prior professional work or summer intern work in a related field, including work related to dam safety, hydraulic structures, engineering design, reports, and field inspections.
  • Possess good oral and written communications skills and computer literacy
  • Ability to work with direction as part of a team
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work
  • Desire and willingness to work outdoors
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening

The compensation range for a Civil Engineering Intern is between $18.00 to $25.00. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
