Scope and Responsibilities

Based in Downtown Los Angeles, Oaktree is seeking Vice President to work within the US Senior Loans Group.

The U.S. Senior Loan strategy launched in 2007 to capitalize on a backlog of bridge loans, focusing on broadly-syndicated, senior-secured, non-investment-grade debt—typically the most senior part of a borrower's capital structure. The strategy expanded with the Enhanced Income product in 2012 and a traditional CLO in 2014. U.S Senior Loans highlights a disciplined, bottom-up approach, using a proprietary credit-scoring system and stress testing to prioritize capital preservation and strong collateral coverage. The strategy mainly targets U.S. dollar-denominated, first-lien loans in North America, with selective exposure to Europe and other secured or unsecured debt when downside risk is limited.

The Vice President will participate in all transaction functions and portfolio management activities:

  • Preparing detailed financial modeling;

  • Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis;

  • Developing and maintaining business and industry due diligence;

  • Participating in deal structuring, legal documentation and negotiations; and

  • Monitoring the performance of existing portfolio investments.

Experience Required

  • 5-9 years of direct relevant experience working with Senior Loans, CLOs, or High Yield Bonds.

  • Outstanding financial modeling and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated competency in financial statement analysis, business valuation, accounting and finance.

Personal Attributes

  • Outstanding initiative and a strong work ethic.

  • Intellectual curiosity.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Team-oriented with strong integrity and professionalism.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree with honors from a top university or college is preferred.
