Senior Financial Controller

Sanoma Finance Control team is an international team of finance professionals, who ensures correct and compliant financial reporting. The team provides financial expertise to the entire Sanoma Group. The Sanoma Finance Control function includes Group Accounting, Controlling & Reporting, Accounting Services, Tax and Internal Controls.

We are now looking for Senior Financial Controller in our Group Finance Control team, responsible for Accounting, Consolidation & Reporting to our headquarters in Helsinki.

As a Financial Controller you will be an important member in our international Sanoma Group finance function. Together with your colleagues, you will ensure IFRS compliant reporting, contribute to monthly, interim and annual reporting activities, as well as provide accounting advise to the organisation. You will also proactively enhance and develop our reporting processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Group consolidation and reporting: participating in monthly, interim and annual group reporting activities, as well as preparation of quarterly and annual external financial reports
• Ensure correct and IFRS-compliant financial reporting
• Perform accounting assessments of new business models, significant transactions and other judgment matters
• Assess the impact of new accounting standards and implement them
• Develop the reporting model, by automating and harmonizing the finance processes, closing schedule and systems
• Participate in cross-functional finance projects, as Group Finance Control team representative
• Collaborate closely and build strong relationships with stakeholders from different businesses and functions throughout the group

Formal Requirements

• Master’s degree in Business/Economics or similar
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in an international, stock-listed company or in Big-Four audit firm
• Advanced knowledge of application of IFRS standards as well as Group consolidation & reporting procedures
• Strong system acumen - confident with IT systems and advanced Excel skills
• Previous experience of HFM, SAP and Workiva is an advantage
• Excellent spoken and written skills in English and Finnish

Keys To Success

• Strong financial acumen: you understand the role and inter-relationships of income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements. Experience of tax accounting is an asset.
• Good collaboration and influencing skills. Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and build strong relationships throughout the group
• Can-do attitude and development mindset, with a strong interest to learn new skills
• An appreciation for coupling operational consolidation of reporting with analysing and advising on complex regulatory matters
• Analytical approach, identifying and solving problems
