Position Summary: The Part-time Athletic Director oversees all aspects of the Middle School's athletic programs, ensuring coordination, compliance, and effective management of sports activities. Responsibilities include scheduling, supervising coaches and athletes, managing facilities and equipment, and ensuring adherence to NCAA and PIAA rules. The role involves close collaboration with the Head of School and Director of OST, providing leadership in athlete eligibility, financial planning, and public relations to promote a safe and successful athletic environment. This is a part-time 10-month position that reports directly to the OST Directors. Working hours will be from 1:00 pm-6:00 pm M-F
Core Responsibilities:
Program Management:
- Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of all athletic programs.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, league regulations, and state athletic associations.
- Develop and manage the athletic department budget, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately.
Staff Supervision And Development:
- Recruit, hire, and evaluate coaching staff.
- Provide staff with game and practice schedules.
- Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for coaches.
- Ensure coaches are aware of and comply with NCAA and PIAA rules.
- Foster a positive, collaborative working environment among staff.
Student-Athlete Support:
- Facilitate paperwork processes required for athletic eligibility, including coordinating physicals with the health center and hosting meetings with families to collect required forms.
- Promote the academic and athletic success of all student-athletes.
- Monitor academic performance and eligibility of student-athletes in accordance with the athletic policy.
- Implement programs to support student-athlete wellness and character development.

Facilities And Equipment Management:
- Secure facilities for athletic practices and competitions
- Oversee the maintenance and scheduling of athletic facilities.
- Manage inventory and storage of athletic equipment.
- Coordinate logistics for athletic events, including transportation and accommodations.
Community And Public Relations:
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the athletic department.
- Communicate athletic program expectations and requirements with families and students
- Develop and maintain relationships with parents, staff, and community organizations.
- Promote school spirit and sportsmanship through various communication channels and events.
Support Student-Athlete Behavior Management:
- Implement strategies for positive behavior management for student athletes, working collaboratively with teachers and staff to create and maintain a respectful and disciplined atmosphere within the school with a specific focus on student athletes.
- Manage daily communication systems regarding student consequences and follow-ups so that teachers/staff/coaches are informed. Hold restorative conversations with students, if necessary.
- Lead or coordinate study hall for student athletes that need additional academic support.
- Collect, input, and analyze discipline data on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to identify specific areas of need and develop targeted supports based on the Code of Conduct.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the school's leadership team, contributing insights, ideas, and collaboration to shape the overall direction of the department.
- Engage in regular meetings, offering expertise and perspectives to enhance the effectiveness of school policies, programs, and initiatives

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Previous experience in athletic administration or coaching.
- Previous experience working in schools preferred
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
