Job Description

KPMG’s Incentives, Reliefs & Innovations team (IRI) is made up of tax, engineering, science, and technology specialists delivering expert advice to a broad range of clients across almost every industry sector. The IRI team works with companies of all sizes from almost every sector of the economy to identify their qualifying R&D activity, quantify it and help them obtain their R&D incentives, as well as working with clients to best leverage the Patent Box regime. The team consists of staff with a wide variety of skill sets all working together, from technical specialist including scientists, engineers, and IT experts to fully qualified accountants and tax advisers. As one of the largest teams in the industry in the UK, our continued investment in innovation advisory means that we seek information technology specialists to join us on the next exciting phase of our growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically astute software engineer with at least 5 years of software design / development experience who is now looking to pivot into a pure consultancy role that does not require software programing but presents an exciting opportunity to directly enable the assessment of software R&D activities undertaken by some of the world’s largest companies. 
 

Roles & responsibilities

We are recruiting for the Senior Associate position in the UK Innovation Incentives and Reliefs team.

Working as Senior Associate in this team, your responsibilities will include:

Lead / support highly-technical interactions with clients' senior technical architects and software developers to develop a comprehensive understanding of the projects undertaken and identify how aspects of projects meet the R&D Guidelines. Writing compelling technical project narratives to bring out the key technical factors of client projects to substantiate R&D claims. Application of advanced problem-solving skills and critical thinking in project execution and delivery. Providing assistance in establishing and maintaining strong client relationships. To possess a keen desire to adapt and flex the existing conceptual knowledge in computer science to different software engineering topics.

Attention to detail - Quality and time conscious Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data and draw meaningful insights Personal drive and positive work ethic to deliver results in demanding situations Prioritization and time management skills Strong team player Educational qualifications Bachelor of engineering or post-graduate degree, ideally in computer science or information technology, along with around 5 years of IT industry experience in a software design / development role. Around 2-3 years of work experience in a similar UK R&D tax advisory role for software engineering claims.
