Job Title: Housekeeper FT; M-FRI, 7a-3:30pSupervised by: Environmental Services ManagerJob Summary: Cleans all areas of the hospital according to policies and procedures. Participates in performance improvement activities.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
- Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
- Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, and clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
- Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
- Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
- Uses and maintains equipment properly.
- Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
- Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors.
- Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
- Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
- Replenishes supplies.
- Follows all infection prevention and control practices, including Standard Precautions, Transmission-Based Precautions and hand hygiene.
- Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
- Works day, evening or night shift as assigned.
- Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
- Observes safety precautions at all times.
- Maintains and ensures age-specific precautions.
- Performs all aspects of assigned tasks in a manner that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
- Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

- Completes annual education requirements.

- Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Completes work within designated time.
- Wears identification while on duty; uses the computerized punch time system correctly.
- Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, health plans and staff.
- Attends annual review and departmental in-services, as scheduled.
- Attends staff meetings; or reads and returns all staff meeting minutes.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
- Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Regulatory Requirements:
· Preferred high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
· Preferred one to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
· Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Skills:
· Basic computer knowledge.
Physical Demands:
· Normal hospital environment. Normal/corrected eyesight. Hearing within normal range. Exposure to chemical, electrical and mechanical hazards. Operates floor machines - buffers, scrubbers, and wet vacuums. Continuous walking and standing. Lifting up to 80 pounds. Carrying up to 40 pounds. Pushing/pulling up to 250 pounds.
