Role Summary:
The Director, Tax – Australia will lead all tax-related activities for the Group’s Australian operations, working in close partnership with the local Finance team and the Group’s global tax leadership. This senior role will ensure compliance with local tax regulations (including corporate tax filings, indirect tax filings and transfer pricing), deliver commercially sound tax strategies, provide expert guidance to support business decisions, investment activities, and governance, and liaise with the Australian Taxation Office (“ATO”) and service providers. The position will also play a key role in preparing for evolving tax requirements, including Pillar Two implementation, and driving process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Leadership & Governance

  • Lead the tax function for the Group’s Australian business, ensuring compliance and optimisation across all tax matters.
  • Partner with the local Finance team and engage external tax advisors to ensure best-practice technical input and execution.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of the Group’s tax governance framework for Australia, ensuring alignment with corporate standards.

 

Transaction & Investment Support

  • Provide tax leadership for fund management activities in Australia, including acquisition and sale processes.
  • Advise on transaction structuring, due diligence, and post-deal integration/separation from a tax perspective for the Group, with focus on contemporaneous documentation.
  • Support the preparation of tax-related data and analysis for Board decision-making on investments and divestments.

Compliance & Regulatory Readiness

  • Lead the implementation and reporting for Pillar Two related top-ups and returns, including review of current and deferred tax provisions.
  • Prepare for new and evolving tax requirements, ensuring the business is fully compliant and operationally ready.
  • Oversee preparation, review, and submission of tax filings, partnering with external advisors where required.
  • Oversee transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transactions in line with OECD guidelines and local requirements.
  • Liaise with ATO and other regulatory bodies regarding audits, inquiries and rulings (where required).
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential impacts on the fund entities and the Group.

Process Improvement & Data Management

  • Lead process testing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax processes.
  • Drive the consolidation and analysis of tax data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate reporting to both internal and external parties.

Requirements

  • Professional tax or accounting qualification (e.g., CA, CPA, CTA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 10–15 years of tax experience, including significant exposure to Australian corporate tax and investment transactions.
  • Experience with Pillar Two compliance and related reporting highly desirable.
  • Strong technical expertise in Australian tax laws, with a proven track record in governance, advisory, and process improvement.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
