Job Title:  Student Ta - Gam-200 And -250 (Beeman), F25

Reports to:  Ellen Beeman and Doug Schilling

Essential Functions

  • We are hiring TAs for employment through Fall and Spring for GAM 200/250
  • You will assist the instructor with labs and grading.
  • You will support students with Technical, Design, Art, Audio, or Production assistance during Friday labs and other times as available. TAs must be available during the GAM 200/250 Friday lab hours!
  • You will give special focus to working with the game teams to solve problems and provide feedback and guidance.
  • Other tasks as requested, to aid in the development and support of the sophomore game teams.
  • In Fall and Spring semesters, TAs also MUST be available for the one-day “TCR Saturday” grading event, which is held on the Saturday before Finals week.
  • Ideal candidates will have acted before in a leadership position (GAM team Producer or Associate Producer; GAM team Design Lead; GAM team Technical Director, core Graphics programmer, core Engine, Physics, Physics, Buildmaster, or IMGUI programmer; Art Director, Art Lead, or Art Producer; Audio Lead; or a separate TA/Tutor position, etc.) As a plus, they will have a familiarity with Trello, Agile, or other project management software, and Github.
  • Accountable for tracking and reporting the amount of time worked.

  • IMPORTANT: Students may not work during a time when they have a class scheduled, or their class is canceled or ends early. TAs who do not follow this requirement will be immediately released from their GAM 200/250 TA employment.
  • IMPORTANT: Student workers must reside within the state of Washington. Working remotely from outside of Washington is not permitted.
  • This position is primarily an on-campus position, although some tasks can be performed remotely via MS Teams and Discord.
  • Applicant must be in good Academic Standing (not on Academic Probation) and minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Applicant must be a currently Matriculated student at DigiPen Institute of Technology
  • A “Pass” grade in GAM 250 or equivalent second semester sophomore game/film projects course.
  • Are in a BFA, BAGD, BAMSD, or any undergraduate CS program at DigiPen.
  • A proven ability to work well onsite and remotely and with minimal direct supervision.
  • Candidates must be available to work onsite and also via Teams chat and/or voice for scheduled meetings and work sessions.

  • Art and Animation: Art direction, art production or scheduling and communication, visual reference gathering and selection of key refs, style guide creation and documentation, concepting, character design, environment design, traditional animation and/or Spine animation, UI/UX design, VFX design, pipeline creation and collaboration with Design, Tech, Audio, Production, work in Unity and/or custom engines (both is a plus!), comfort speaking up for Art as an equal member of the leads and development team.
  • Music and Audio: Audio lead, fluency with one or more DAWs, composition, orchestration, electronic composition a plus, sound fx creation, editing, and selection, ambience and atmospheric creation, adaptive audio, surround sound, spatialization, trailer creation, scoring trailers and specific scenes, FMOD and FMOD Studio experience, WWise experience a plus, familiarity with Affordances/Signifiers/Feedback lists, ability to maintain an up-to-date Audio Assets list, having worked closely with Tech, Art, and/or Design is a plus, comfort speaking up for Audio as an equal member of the leads and development team.

Wage Range:

$16.66 - 17.75 per hour, depending on number of terms worked at DigiPen

Working Conditions:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; and fine finger dexterity. May need to lift up to 25 lbs. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.

Digipen Student Employee Academic Requirements:

  • Are currently a Matriculated student at DigiPen Institute of Technology
  • Good Academic Standing – not on Academic Warning as defined in DigiPen Course Catalog
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Have taken and passed GAM-200 or GAM-255 OR equivalent courses for BFA and BAMSD students

Requirement Exceptions:

It is possible to still be selected for a position with DigiPen if you do not meet the requirements above, so don't let that dissuade you from applying!
