As a Mechanical Engineer I, you’ll play a key role in supporting a variety of innovative projects from concept through installation, including custom electromechanical equipment, robotics, structures, workstations, and equipment mounting. This position offers a balance of computer-based design work in the office and hands-on involvement in the shop or at customer sites, giving you the opportunity to see your designs come to life. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers and project managers, applying your strong understanding of mechanical engineering design principles while gaining valuable real-world experience. Flexibility is important, as the role may include travel, overtime, and occasional overnight stays. What You'll Do
- Perform Mechanical 3D design, 2D drawings, component specification, assembly, and documentation for custom machines, systems, and products as assigned
- Gather information and pricing for proposal process to include site visits as needed
- Collaborate with Project Managers, other engineers, and purchasing to communicate and track equipment and material needs from outside vendors
- Develop and maintain a Bill of Materials (BOM) for projects as assigned
- Lead assembly, troubleshooting, prototyping, and light fabrication in the shop or field
- Recognize and communicate design changes to Engineers and Project Management that are not included in the Scope of Work or active Change Orders
- Lead and mentor Engineering Technicians in various job duties and tasks as assigned
Working Conditions
- Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or tools / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel
- Sit, talk, listen, observe, read, write, and type
- Perform work on site in industrial, commercial, and residential locations
What You'll Bring
- 6 months’ - 2 years’ internship or relevant mechanical or engineering work experience preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required, Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- Passing FE (Fundamental Engineering Exam) preferred or willing to obtain within 1 year
- Valid driver’s license required
- Possesses proficiency in the use of personal computers to include Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient in the use of software packages such as Inventor, AutoCad, or equivalent design software
