The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Manager, Programs to work at the UHealth medical campus in Miami, FL.
CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Programs (H) oversees and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the assigned University program(s) in accordance with the institution’s strategic mission. The incumbent operates with the goal of delivering high quality programs to the University staff and other key stakeholders. Furthermore, the Manager, Programs (H) provides guidance and mentorship to program staff to encourage talent development.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Plans, implements, evaluates, and monitors assigned program(s).
Implements project plans related to the delivery of new and on-going program(s).
Works with internal stakeholders so that program(s) run efficiently and effectively.
Evaluates and measures the effectiveness of assigned program(s).
Ensures that operations are managed within authorized budgets.
Collects, manages, and reports program data.
Develops and cultivates relationships and partnerships with various internal/external entities and organizations to further department functions.
Recruits, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines department staff to ensure optimum performance.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Experience: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
• Knowledge of business and management principles.
• Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
• Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
• Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
• Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
Department Specific Functions:
The Manager, Programs is responsible for the on and off-season operations of all the summer programs supported by the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. This includes the annual in-person 10-week Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program as well as assisting with placements of summer research students in Sylvester member research labs and ensuring that tasks related to maintaining a robust programmatic infrastructure and databases are appropriately and accurately completed.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
Attending at least one national recruitment meeting annually with the Program Director to advertise and recruit for the program and develop network contacts.
Managing information requests and applications, sending application status communications, and tracking acceptance responses.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant university policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Managing program logistics, including scheduling, transportation, and facility management.
Arranging travel, HR onboarding, housing, access to training and orientation, consent forms, and tracking training completion records.
Program Coordination and Planning:
Coordinating and managing engaging and educational undergraduate summer research program curricula and social activities.
Creating program schedules, timelines, and logistical plans.
Developing and implementing policies and procedures for program operations.
Scheduling review panels, Advisory Committee meetings, and other administrative meetings.
Contacting participants to finalize and schedule program seminars, workshops, and other events.
Liaising with the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) and UM IT to ensure set up and maintenance of the program website (including overview, key application dates, up-to-date application information and forms, and past records).
Student Support and Engagement:
Creating and maintaining the scholar information database and correspondence, including recommendation requests from past scholars and letters from appropriate entities.
Coordinating social events for SURF scholars during the duration of the 10-week program.
Monitoring student research progress, addressing research or behavioral concerns in conjunction with the program director.
Creating a positive and inclusive environment that fosters student engagement and community building.
Staff Management:
Supervising assigned student worker and working collaboratively with other program managers
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Serving as the program liaison for the Postdoctoral Association, the Biomedical Graduate Council, other trainee programs, and the Office of Belonging and Inclusive Excellence.
Working closely with faculty, academic departments, and other university offices to ensure program alignment with institutional goals.
Building and maintaining relationships with external partners.
Program Evaluation and Improvement:
Collecting and analyzing data on program effectiveness, participant feedback, and learning outcomes.
Identifying areas for program improvement and making recommendations for future enhancements.
Preparing reports on program outcomes and impact.
Conducting regular evaluations of all programmatic activities and periodic surveys of former participants.
