The Arthur Lakes Library at Colorado School of Mines seeks a forward-thinking, service-oriented student in library and information sciences to serve as an intern on the Instruction team.

Between 2017 and 2020, the library team developed a series of video and click-through tutorials related to research tasks and information literacy concepts. Now, the library team is interested assessing, updating, and expanding the collection. In collaboration with library faculty, the intern will take the lead on this project including, reviewing current content, updating tutorials, and potentially creating new materials. The existing collection can be found at https://libguides.mines.edu/tutorials.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with library faculty to assess existing content in the collection
  • Draft, create, and edit video tutorials using DaVinci Resolve
  • Edit existing click-through tutorials in Springshare’s LibWizard
  • Craft learning objectives and draft new items for the collection
  • Collaborate with faculty to incorporate tutorials into the library’s website and LibGuides
  • Supplemental mentoring opportunities in instruction and STEM librarianship can be added depending on the intern’s professional goals

Qualifications:

  • Skills or interest in video creation, editing, and tutorial design
  • Experience or interest in using Springshare products, such as LibGuides and LibWizard
  • Experience or interest in learning to use using software such as Camtasia or DaVinci Resolve
  • Ability to work independently and communicate well with project partners
  • Experience or interest in academic librarianship, specifically information literacy instruction
  • Experience or interest in working in a STEM library environment
