Structured Product Intern
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our Structured Products team, with a focus on CMBS, RMBS, CLO, and ABS. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong quantitative and analytical skills, with a deep understanding of Python as a core requirement. Proficiency in additional programming languages is a plus.
Candidates should be on track to graduate Magna Cum Laude or higher, with a strong academic foundation in finance, mathematics, computer science, or a related field. A passion for structured finance, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Internship Overview
The position will provide the candidate with exposure to the various roles and responsibilities that exist within the investments department of an insurance company while providing RGA Investments the opportunity to identify early candidates that will fit the needs of the growing RGA Investments department. The intern will learn the various methods and thought processes involved in analyzing individual companies, industries, and making relative value comparisons. The intern will also learn how operate with real life examples. The analyst will learn to consider factors within the framework of a broader insurance organization, achieving income goals within the constraints of ALM (asset liability management) objectives. Structured Product Interns will be given at least one major project that could play a meaningful role within the trading desk.
Responsibilities
Work as a member of the credit analyst team which is responsible for evaluating existing RGA portfolio holdings as well as new investment opportunities. The intern will work alongside the senior credit analysts and learn the credit basics of various industries. The intern may be asked to help gather information on a specific industry and report to the rest of the team. The intern will also learn the basics of building financial statement models that are used when doing credit research as well as work on other ad hoc credit reporting projects. The intern may work on other cross-functional projects as time permits.
Requirements
Must be enrolled as a full-time college student at the Junior, Senior or Graduate level pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related degree program at an accredited university
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL database management and structure
Technology savvy, programming and process improvement/automation skills
Creative thinker and self-motivated
Strong initiation to learn new concepts
Entrepreneurial thinker and self-motivated
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
