JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled System Controls Technician to support the testing and troubleshooting of control systems used in commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our systems meet performance, safety, and quality standards before they reach customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand electrical theory and practice as applied to the operation of components such as electric motors, motor starters, contractors, control relays, time delay relays, circuit breakers, and other related electrical, pneumatic and mechanical components.
- Apply trade knowledge and experience to recognize errors or potential problems with schematics, assembly drawings, parts lists or instructions.
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls-related issues on assembled HVAC equipment.
- Inspect and/or repair jobs.
- Prepare list of parts to be replaced or repaired.
- Performs troubleshooting as necessary on parts or subassemblies to identify and resolve problems.
- Program and test PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and actuators used in HVAC control applications.
- Perform functional testing and quality assurance checks on control systems before shipping.
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, UL/ETL standards, and manufacturing best practices.
- Maintain detailed records of configuration settings, test results, and system modifications.
- Support the design and testing of new product prototypes and control panels.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs work and/or delegated responsibilities without supervision and with either verbal or written instructions.
- Ensures work area is clean and orderly
- Work in other areas when needed.
- Maintain ISO standards
- Observe all safety rules
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Skilled and experienced with using power and hydraulic operated tools common to the trade.
- Understand electrical theory and practice.
- Capability of reading electrical diagrams and schematics.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires at least 2 years of experience in manufacturing or relevant HVAC experience.
- Strong knowledge of control components including relays, contactors, VFDs, temperature sensors, and pressure transducers.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer terminal, expansive reading, etc.
- The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
