POSITION PURPOSE
To contribute to the daily warehouse activities, adding value and efficiencies to all required operations
To participate in all department operations with focus on specific activities, as required by department management, following manufacturing priorities and hourly production flow
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Picking
Receives incoming orders from Order Entry and/or Lab (breakages) into warehouse
Picks incoming Rx/stock jobs/orders from the designated bin locations, as per work-ticket instructions
Scans properly all items picked, updating inventory accordingly
Specific procedures are to be followed when picking semi-finished lenses vs. finished products
All trays/stock orders are to be dropped off in designated work locations for processing, as per job requirements. Scans into the appropriate lab locations
Understands and follows appropriate SOP’s
- Stock Invoicing and Shipping
Receives Rx jobs from QA and/or stock orders from warehouse pickers. Use of DVI as well as couriers’ label printers
Matches carefully the eyewear pair of glasses with the correct invoice, shipping label and supplies (if any)
Packages jobs in appropriate shipping boxes
Drops the packages in appropriate ICS, UPS, Purolator, Loomis designated bags/locations
Prints out shipping manifests as per each courier’s pick-up time
Understands and follows appropriate SOP’s
- Miscellaneous activities
Receive incoming materials (non-raw materials)
Transport lenses out of AR from hourly from one unit to another
Restock lenses
Any other duties, as deemed necessary and required by the department supervisor
Perform regular transfers of product between units to support jobs requiring Anti-Reflective (AR) coating and tinting; frequency varies based on production flow (multiple times per day).
Transport overstock (SF product) between units upon receipt; includes loading and unloading of delivery trucks (daily).
Conduct cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy; performed 2–3 times per week.
Actively participate in the daily restocking of all SF products, including overstock items.
PHYSICAL SKILL AND EFFORT
Standing, walking, reaching and bending constantly throughout the day
Low, moderate and high noise levels (not to exceed standards)
Daily lifting/carrying 20 lbs or less, pushing/pulling approximately 50 lbs at once (moving carts of lenses between units)
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate is the minimum education requirement
Optical background considered a strong asset
Must be able to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment
Must be well organized, detail oriented, have excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities
Continuous learning is a large part of this position
Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Must be able to work in a team atmosphere as well as an individual with minimal supervision
