The Access and Engagement Coordinator plays a pivotal role in advancing the institution's mission to provide access to education and promote a welcoming and supportive campus community. This position focuses on fostering access, retention, and meaningful engagement for students with social and economic challenges, including adult learners, community college transfers, first-generation students, students with disabilities, veterans, and students from distressed and rural communities. The Access and Engagement Coordinator collaborates closely with campus and community partners to develop and implement strategies that enhance the overall educational experience and success of students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, this position will support to the Office of Access, Compliance, and Title IX in investigations, trainings, and administrative support.
• Identify and engage with student populations with social and economic challenges to promote educational opportunities.
• Develop and implement initiatives to increase enrollment of adult learners, community college transfers, and other target groups.
• Assist in the coordination of recruitment and retention efforts that align with the institution's access goals.
• Work with campus stakeholders to create a welcoming environment that promotes supports for all students, faculty, and staff.
• Collaborate with campus partners to ensure access to resources and support services.
• Promote access and engagement initiatives across campus.
• Facilitate and support engagement programs that provide opportunities for leadership and personal growth for student populations.
• Collaborate with student organizations and employee resource groups to encourage active participation.
• Identify and address barriers to engagement for all students, faculty, and staff.
• Collect data and prepare reports and summaries for Vice Chancellor for Access and Engagement.
• Assist in the distribution of resources and tools to support the academic and personal development of students, faculty, and staff.
• Provide guidance and support to students, faculty, and staff facing challenges related to access and success.
• Connect students with relevant campus and community resources.
• Foster strong partnerships with Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs to coordinate efforts.
• Work closely with faculty and staff to align academic and co-curricular initiatives with access and engagement goals.
• Investigate complaints such as harassment and discrimination under Title VI, Title VII, Title IX and the ADA.
• Interview witnesses, note-taking, analyzing evidence, making determinations and advising alternative resolutions.
• Assists investigation team by performing a variety of technical and administrative duties to support operations of OACT.
• Assists in preparation of investigation reports supporting the Director of Access, Compliance, and Title IX in formal investigations.
• May resolve complaints in collaboration with the Director and under direct supervision requiring minimal intervention.
• Assist in data compilation and development of metrics and reports.
• Perform other duties not specifically mentioned herein, under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor for Access and Engagement.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience in access and engagement, student support services, or related roles.
• Knowledge of access and engagement strategies for student populations with social and economic challenges.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with campus and community partners.
• Commitment to access and engagement in higher education.
• Data-driven mindset for assessing program effectiveness and making data-informed decisions.
• Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a workforce comprised of various cultures.
• Excellent communication (verbal, written, electronic), interpersonal, diplomatic, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of analyzing and synthesizing a variety of different inputs to create reports and other documents in a variety of formats.
• Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with progressive responsibilities in education, psychology, or related field.
• Master's degree in a related field.
• Experience in access and engagement, student support services, or related roles.
• Knowledge of access and engagement strategies for student populations with economic challenges.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with campus and community partners.
• Commitment to access and engagement in higher education.
• Data-driven mindset for assessing program effectiveness and making data-informed decisions.
• Knowledge of higher education policy.
• Experience in an institution of higher education setting.
• Working knowledge of, or previous delivery with various models of higher education delivery
• Knowledge of university, state, and federal fiscal and administrative rules, regulations, and procedures.
• High level of familiarity with research, data collection, and procedures in higher education or similar complex organizations
