Work Location: Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

 

Roster: 4D3R FIFO ex Perth

 

This role is responsible for providing technical support in metallurgical and process engineering, driving process improvement initiatives, and leading modelling and simulation activities across all planning horizons. A key focus will be maintaining and improving plant mass, power, and water balances. The position requires close collaboration with site operations, maintenance, process control, shutdown and planning teams, as well as project execution groups and external contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and deliver solutions to operational challenges relating to safety, process performance, yield and plant upgrades.
  • Engage stakeholders across the business to understand operational needs and deliver outcomes.
  • Manage and work within allocated capex and opex budgets.
  • Collaborate with mine planning and geology teams to improve orebody knowledge and regression predictions.
  • Lead and support projects from concept through design, execution, commissioning and handover.
  • Ensure technical quality, integrity and adequacy of process designs and changes.
  • Generate, review and approve process-related documentation for optimisation and delivery.
  • Maintain compliance with Management of Change processes.
  • Ensure correct application of Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Support metallurgical operations and project delivery through process simulation activities (SysCAD experience preferred).

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the minerals processing industry with direct operational and technical development exposure.
  • At least 2 years’ process engineering experience on major mineral processing projects, including materials handling, crushing, screening, and wet beneficiation (particularly physical separation unit processes).
  • Demonstrated experience in plant operation, optimisation, and process improvement.
  • Strong leadership, conceptual thinking and analytical problem-solving skills with a practical focus.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Experience with process modelling/simulation tools (SysCAD highly regarded).
