Position Number: 129710 Position Title (Classification Title):  Business Process Analyst 129710 Working Title:  Lead Business Process Analyst Job Summary: The Lead Business Process Analyst serves in a key role providing essential support, analysis, and oversight of business processes, reporting, and data validation to stakeholders within the Division of Academic Affairs.

The Lead Business Process Analyst has extensive functional knowledge, experience, and understanding of Banner ERP, or comparable student information system, and its integrated systems. This employee serves as the technical liaison to the divisional departments for reporting and analytical needs.

The Lead Business Process Analyst provides leadership and strategic direction for business process improvement and data analysis initiatives within the Division of Academic Affairs. This role oversees the work of the Business Process Analysts and related staff, ensuring the effective use of data, technology, and process optimization to support operational efficiency, data-informed decision-making, and programmatic success.

The Lead Business Process Analyst collaborates closely with core functional areas within the division, as well as cross-functional stakeholders across the institution, to identify opportunities for improved workflows, reporting, and systems integration. This position combines leadership with hands-on engagement in process analysis, data strategy, and performance reporting to support the division’s goals.

The Lead Business Process Analyst will serve as team member or team leader on special projects and strategic initiatives that are responsive to divisional and university needs. Typically, these special projects relate to reporting used for decision making or consultation on issues that involve detailed process and/or data analysis.
Department Academic Affairs VP FLSA: Exempt Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience Position Qualifications: Knowledge of university programs and operations; strong project management and leadership skills; strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities; experiential knowledge of enterprise-wide ERP systems, data visualization software and advanced Microsoft Excel abilities; interpersonal team building skills; understanding of business management and resource planning. A working knowledge of relational databases and the ability to write complex SQL statements using both MS SQL Server and Oracle. The ability to provide ad hoc queries to extract data from Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and other database systems for generating reports. The ability to learn new technologies, the knowledge and ability to interpret multiple programming language syntax and logical algorithms, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree and 8 years of appropriate experience
Experience in a university environment and working knowledge of Banner ERP System
Knowledge and experience with Tableau Data Analysis Software
Extensive experience with analyzing and developing business process improvement solutions
Experience with program evaluation
Experience working with executive leadership
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 50% - Business Process Analysis, Process Improvement, and Project Management Provide overall direction and management of the Business Process Management group. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, setting standard procedures and guidelines for the analysts, analyst training and oversight, supervising staff and performance evaluations, meeting with stakeholders to assess needs, and validation of reports and analytics produced by the group. Establish and maintain best practices for business/functional analysis of processes. Analyze business processes within the Division of Academic Affairs to identify ways to streamline business processes and maximize efficiency. Examine processes to understand impact to people, strategy, systems and general business operations, and recommend actions or provide information to stakeholders to manage change. Identify potential implementation barriers and determine strategic resolution strategies. Design new or improved business processes based on analysis and manage subsequent changes to improved business processes to continue to adapt to user needs. Oversee implementation of new strategies designed to more closely align business needs with organizational goals. Support, develop or deliver communications related to implementation of new business processes. Serve as the subject matter expert on assigned functions to ensure optimal operational performance. Provide functional and technical support and/or training to end users. Lead portions and/or all of large tasks or projects. Other duties as necessary - (Essential)
  • 25% - Report Development and Maintenance Create reports using all available data to empower administration to make informed decisions. Use strong analytical and management skills to interpret internal and external business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements. Propose innovative solutions to complex business needs using all available reporting tools and technologies. Perform detailed analysis on multiple projects, recommend potential business solutions and ensure successful implementations. Prepare reports and data models by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information . Coordinate with various business units and departments in the development and delivery of reports. Develop reports which can be utilized for matters pertaining to university operations such as academic program review and strategic enrollment planning. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Data Integrity and Validation Create and maintain exception reports, primarily in Tableau, for the use in assisting with data integrity, verification and associated cleanup. Define and document business processes in Confluence and internal business process documentation repositories. Develop, share, and incorporate organizational best practices into business applications. Use standard UWF reporting tools to develop and deliver ad-hoc queries, as well as standard reports and dashboards to meet client needs. Formulate and update departmental policies and procedures as needed. Ensure accurate, timely, consistent, relevant, and accessible data for internal use. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Internal Support Assist as needed with the documentation, maintenance, training, and technical support of new and existing systems and processes that serve client needs. Monitor and respond to questions from end-users using effective written or verbal communication skills to provide assistance and problem resolution. Maintain system data integrity by identifying and reconciling discrepancies in a timely manner. Develop training resources. Provide functional and technical support and/or training to end-users. Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
