Job Summary:

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership of hourly Quality Department personnel. This role ensures the execution of regulatory, food safety standards, and company policies at the factory floor level. The Quality Supervisor also collaborates with other plant functional supervision to improve manufacturing processes to reduce or eliminate food safety and quality risks and continuously improve quality excellence in service of creative werks customers.  


Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Responsible for coordinating and directing personnel to assure adherence with creative werks quality systems, specifications, and customer expectations in the production of high-quality goods within acceptable design limits.  
  • Monitor plant food safety and quality performance metrics and maintain continuous communication with all departments to assure production priorities and shortfalls are addressed and corrective action plans are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Ensure QA Hold process is executed, communicated, and collaborates with cross-functional team and that the plant adheres to creative werks procedures.  
  • Assist Food Safety and Quality Manager and quality staff with hold and consumer complaint investigations and trend analysis. Lead root cause analysis, corrective action plans, and continues improvement based on data.  
  • Perform primary packaging review and evaluates other incoming product for quality as needed depending on the schedules and availability of other quality personnel. 
  • Oversee and performs production records and FG COA review and release.
  • Oversee adherence to internal and customer microbiological and analytical sampling programs for finished food and environmental testing.
  • Supervise hourly Quality personnel schedules and schedule adherence. 
  • Responsible for creating a knowledgeable and positive work environment, promoting curiosity through performance coaching, development, and training of employees in quality standards and analysis.

Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Adaptable to fast paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
  • Analytical and process driven thinker and problem solver.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP’s, manufacturing and sanitation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of root cause analysis and risk avoidance tools (i.e. Ishikawa/Cause and Effect Diagrams, 5-Why, FMEA).
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement techniques or LEAN tools (i.e. Kaizen, TQM, PDCA, DMAIC, 5S, SMED, Waste).
  • Working knowledge of statistical process controls and sampling plans preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint is required. Familiarity and adaptability to auxiliary programs such as ERP, analytics tools (Sisense, Tableau), and Minitab preferred. 
  • Collaborative approach: able to work cross-functionally and with external resources.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in life or physical sciences, Food Science, Engineering, or related field required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in quality leadership in regulated industry such as food or pharmaceutical required, 5+ years preferred
  • Certified SQF Practitioner or equivalent preferred
  • Certified in HACCP and/or PCQI preferred
  • Experienced or certified in internal auditing preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Office setting and warehouse environment with temperature range of 55 – 80 degrees
  • This position requires the employee to be always on-call to respond to any food safety or quality emergency.
  • This position may require the employee to occasionally work weekends or shifts other than their own to meet the needs of the business.
