SUMMARY
Bering Straits Native Corporation is seeking a results-driven Director of Finance & Operations to oversee financial and operational functions for its Central Companies, a group of construction-focused subsidiaries. This leadership position plays a critical role in driving project performance, financial accountability, and strategic planning across the construction portfolio. The Director works closely with the Vice President of Finance and executive team to ensure operational efficiency, compliance, and profitability across all Central Companies projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Responsibilities:
- Support project managers, superintendents, and field operations to ensure successful delivery of scope, schedule, and budget.
- Support project planning, resource allocation, logistics coordination, and subcontractor performance.
- Collaborate with estimating and business development teams to support preconstruction activities and operational input during proposal development.
- Ensure operational compliance with company policies, client expectations, and federal/state regulations.
Financial Responsibilities:
- Manage the financial performance of Central Companies, including oversight of budgeting, forecasting, and job cost reporting.
- Lead financial reviews with project teams and corporate finance, ensuring accurate tracking of revenue, expenses, and margin performance.
- Review monthly financial close and EAC reporting processes in coordination with corporate accounting.
- Assist as needed with the oversight of billing, subcontractor payments, project cash flow, and contract compliance (including FAR and government requirements where applicable).
- Support financial due diligence, audit readiness, and coordination with tax and risk management functions.
- Provide financial modeling and business case analysis for strategic initiatives and capital planning.
Leadership & Strategy:
- Serve as a key leader within the Central Companies, contributing to strategic planning, business growth, and continuous improvement.
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across operations and finance.
- Implement best practices, tools, and systems that enhance operational and financial performance.
- Support workforce development, succession planning, and cross-training within the division.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the Vice President of Finance and corporate leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field.
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction operations and/or finance.
- Experience in a leadership role within a general contracting or construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of construction project delivery methods, cost management, and financial oversight.
- Proficient in construction accounting systems and ERP/project management software (e.g., Viewpoint, CMiC, Sage).
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
Preferred
- Experience with federal contracting, including cost-reimbursable and fixed-price contracts.
- Knowledge of Davis-Bacon, certified payroll, and government reporting requirements.
- Familiarity with Alaska Native Corporations and SBA 8(a) program requirements.

· Effective communication and collaboration with executive leadership, project managers, and stakeholders
· Working knowledge of project management principles and practices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Work is performed primarily in a professional office setting, with periodic travel to project sites and corporate meetings. Must be able to navigate a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with coordination between field and office teams.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
