You as an Electrical Estimator will: 

  • Confidently lead a team through the completion of a bid process under pressure while building strong relationships with sub-trades and manufacturing representatives.

  • Assemble accurate, timely, and well organized estimates from Order of Magnitude to tender documents, including hard-bid, construction management, and design-build in a methodical and systematic manner.

  • Completes full quantity take-off of all labor, equipment, and materials for medium to- large scopes electrical scope of work at various design stages, including conceptual, schematic, and throughout design development and construction documents on various sized projects. 
  • Organize, review, and level sub-contractor and/or manufacturer quotes.
  • Review of sub-trade changes. Validate quantities, labour, productivities, scope, etc.

  • Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing and project costs, for future reference.

  • Review drawings and tender documents to understand scope of work and submission requirements.

  • Recognizes and identify risks related to project-specific requirements, site, schedule, and market conditions or constraints.

  • Coordinate scopes with Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, and Structural divisions/team members.

  • Assist in closing bids, research historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compile summary reports to develop guidelines and references for future estimates,
  • Participate in developing project Update and bid package estimate documents,
  • Maintain files of working documents for back-up to estimating figures,
  • Assist in the monitoring of conceptual estimates with actual cost data

Is this the right role for you?

  • Intermediate/Senior experience(i.e. five to seven years+) working in Commercial Construction estimating experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • You have a working knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to create and maintain strong relationships, strong communication skills, and attention to detail; as well as the ability to work effectively and accurately in time sensitive situations within a team. Coordination with all members of the design and estimating team.
  • Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems, etc. is essential.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and contract documents (i.e.design briefs).
  • Capable of allocating scope and costs for conceptual and design development projects.
  • You have a construction related degree/diploma, designations (i.e. PQS, GSC, etc.)
