Job Description
Job Summary: The Commis 1 will assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes under the guidance of senior kitchen staff. This role requires a keen attention to detail, a passion for food, and a willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic culinary environment. The ideal candidate will have foundational culinary skills and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards in food quality and safety.

- Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Prepare ingredients, including chopping, dicing, and measuring, to ensure readiness for cooking.
- Follow instructions from the Chef de Partie and other senior kitchen staff to ensure consistency and quality.
- Manage and maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned workstations.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of ingredients to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of ingredients and supplies for the station.
- Adhere to established food safety and hygiene standards, including proper sanitation of kitchen equipment and work areas.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure that dishes meet the quality and presentation standards set by the kitchen.
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate food preparation and service.
- Actively participate in training and development opportunities to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.
- Seek feedback and guidance from senior staff to improve performance and advance within the kitchen team.
Qualifications
- Culinary diploma or equivalent qualification is required; comprehensive knowledge of fundamental cooking techniques is essential.
- Prior kitchen experience is highly preferred and will be considered a significant advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain unwavering attention to detail and an uncompromising commitment to food quality and safety standards.
- Proven capacity to work efficiently and effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments, coupled with exceptional organizational skills.
- Deep-rooted passion for the culinary arts, coupled with a strong sense of reliability and willingness to accommodate flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Exemplary work ethic and demonstrated ability to contribute positively and professionally to a team environment.
