What You Will Be Doing
As Product Quality Engineer (Test Development), you will design, implement, and maintain automated factory test solutions for Electrical Vehicle chargers — including software automation and test hardware development. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, and quality teams to ensure robust test coverage, high manufacturing yield, and reliable field performance. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is excited to gain hands-on experience with power electronics, embedded systems, and automated test software development.
To be successful at ChargePoint this person must be highly motivated, self-directed, and comfortable working in a loosely structured and fast-paced environment.
What You Will Bring to ChargePoint
- Develop and maintain Python-based automated test scripts using manufacturing test equipment (e.g. Chroma, NH Research, Keysight, National Instruments).
- Work with hardware, firmware, and embedded software engineers to define test coverage and traceability for Outgoing Quality Control (OQC) test, Ongoing Reliability Test (ORT), and similar
- Review system-level schematics and block-diagrams to design functional tests.
- Automate test sequences using Python and internal frameworks to reduce cycle time and improve tester uptime.
- Develop automated test sequences that integrate software control with hardware systems — including programmable power supplies and loads, relays, and instrumentation — to enable fully automated manufacturing tests
- Debug and optimize automation code to improve manufacturing yield and throughput.
- Analyze functional test results from factory manufacturing sites and provide actionable feedback
- Experience in hardware/software integration or test automation
- Document test procedures, test cases, and system architecture according to project and quality requirements.
- Support the integration and deployment of new test stations at global manufacturing facilities (up to 10% travel).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Experience in hardware/software integration or test automation (including internships or post-graduate degree)
- 0–2 years of programming experience in a fast-paced environment with the ability to independently review documentation, learn new libraries, and troubleshoot software installations (including internships or post-graduate degree)
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Python (or C++ with willingness to learn Python)
- Familiarity with working in a Linux development environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with Git version control
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of electronics, high-voltage/low-voltage systems, and embedded applications.
- Familiarity with manufacturing test processes in a high-volume production environment.
- Understanding of testing principles, embedded systems validation, and hardware interfaces.
- Ability to read and interpret PCBA and system-level schematics.
- Knowledge of common communication protocols such as UART, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, and I2C
