Responsible for operational oversight of all Importing and Exporting compliance functions for all BIAH sites in accordance with 15CFR and 19CFR of the Federal Regulations, with focus on import activities, commercial and non-commercial exports. Additionally monitors, tracks, and reconciles customs entries. These duties include but are not limited to coordinate and control of local, domestic and international imports/exports needs of Barceloneta site, and ensure all activities are performed in compliance with cGMPs, Quality, Environmental, Safety and External Regulatory Agencies such as DOT, Customs and FDA. Maintain consistent and timely communications on order status with local Operations Planning, Global Supply Chain and our customers. Additionally monitors, tracks the service requirements and KPIs for our preferred brokers and freight forwarders. Responsible for the accuracy of the data entered into the inventory and exports systems as well as will be responsible for enforcing the use of quality cost-effective carriers in collaboration with Sourcing. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the application of operational procedures for imports and exports
  • Maintains fill compliance with local customs regulations and policies, including material movements and regular incoming
  • Coordinates finished goods warehouse activities with other functional departments such as Operations, Operations Planning, IS, Global Supply Chain and QA/QC to supply product in a timely manner and meet Production Service Level
  • Participates in activities related to Safety, GMPs, Quality, and other Plant initiatives
  • Interacts and provides support to other departments regarding cost reduction, productivity improvement, and operations improvement initiatives
  • Export Control Expert backup, responsible to maintain current knowledge of national, European and US-Export Control, Trade Compliance, hazardous materials and substances, and provides expertise in shipping of hazardous materials via all modes of transportation.
  • Responsible to manage SAP GTS to handle DPS process for local suppliers and customers outside SAP module
  • Routinely traces and expedites all critical inbound and outbound shipments. Provides US Customs requests, information and/or duty check on time to avoid penalty fines.
  • Performs analysts, assessment and execution of export control-relevant issues
  • Supports operations and customers needs by conducting investigations resulted from carriers mishandling and leading claims to carriers and insurance company, if applies
  • Assist with researching and developing requirements i.e. documents, classifications, special permits, etc. for importing and/or exporting for all new direct and indirect materials, equipment, product samples, etc, including license determination
  • Responsible for investigating and assigning HTSC for Imports. Relaying the FDA Product Codes for all Imported direct and indirect materials. Additionally, verifies value of each Import shipment by interfacing with Strategic Purchasing, R&D and the International team in Ingelheim
  • Audits freight rates to ensure compliance of negotiated rates as supplied by the Global Logistics team
  • Ensure good partnership with external service providers to keep current payments to Freight, Forwarders, Carriers, Brokers, and other suppliers
  • Trains employees on changes to procedures, guidelines, and bulletins regarding Trade Compliance, Environmental and Safety
  • Participates in Tier 2 meetings in Warehouse
  • Complies with current GMP, Environmental, DOT, and Safety trainings
  • Complies with environmental guidelines, procedures, training, practices, permit conditions, and internal notification of any environmental events
  • Proficient in inbound and outbound Logistics, ERP, BIX, and Integration Point
  • Responsible for site imports and exports activities including maintenance of imports/exports database, customer profiles, and imports profiles and documentation audits.
  • Site liaison with brokers and freight forwarders
  • Complete Logistics Deviations for Imports and Exports
  • Performs other associated activities as needed
  • Drive Continuous Improvement process, systems and culture in the organization. Model behaviors aligned with the site CI mindset, implement ideas, programs and change management initiatives that will have sustainable long-term benefits according to the organization strategic goals and objectives
  • Drive Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) compliance in the organization. Actively engage and role model behaviors aligned with the site EHS philosophy and assure full on-time compliance with applicable EHS training programs and requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Engineering or Science.
  • Between two to three (2-3) years of experience in a similar position (warehouse, supply chain, distribution and logistics) in a manufacturing environment or related field.
  • CFR49, CFR15, CFR19, IATA, ICAO, DOT, Customs and IMDG Certifications.
  • Knowledge and experience with lean six sigma methods and tools. Yellow or Green Belt certification preferred.
  • APICS Certified is highly preferred.
  • Site Liaison for Export Control Classification ' relevant commodity lists.
  • Experience working in SAP, SAP GTS environment.
  • Knowledge of cGMP's, Environmental ' Safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of Imports / Exports regulations.
  • Actual experience related to International Logistic processes and documentation: INCOTERMS, Letters of Credit, and related international trade transactions.
  • Fully bilingual. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in Spanish and English.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
