DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:The Red Sox Foundation is one of the largest team charities in Major League Baseball, strategically using its platform to be a leading source of hope and positivity off the field in the areas of health, education and recreation. By coupling our year-round, direct-service programming with our grant-making initiatives and core partnerships, we utilize a unique model as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to effectively triple our impact in New England and Lee County, Florida. It is the passion of the best fans in baseball that make our work possible. POSITION OVERVIEW:The Director of Programs position will oversee the conception, design, implementation, management, and evaluation of all Red Sox Foundation (RSF) programming. They will be responsible for managing and developing a staff of 6 individuals, requiring excellent interpersonal, communication, reporting, and systems-development skills. They will assist the Executive Director (ED) with developing the strategy, goals, partnerships, and growth of all recreational and educational direct-service programming that the Red Sox Foundation provides across New England throughout each year. They will report directly to the Executive Director and will be a key internal and external brand of the organization, requiring strong writing and public speaking skills. The candidate should have the ability to work with departments, systems and people from the Boston Red Sox in a symbiotic way that sustains their support of the RSF. The key programs that the individual will be managing include:
• Education – “Expanding Access & Opportunity to High Quality Educational Resources”: o Red Sox Scholars, Fenway Park Learning Lab, & New England Service Scholars • Recreation – “Growing the Game of Baseball & Softball”: o Nike RBI Leagues, Play Ball Events, & Little League Stipends

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leadership:
- Develop and maintain strategies, systems, and processes to maximize the impact of the Foundation’s programs
- Cultivate existing and new relationships with key stakeholders to ensure programs’ growth and sustainability
- Serve as the key liaison between RSF and program partners and sponsors. Manage these networks of partners to ensure the development of relationships and programming
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and other department heads, to promote organizational cohesiveness and to ensure that all program, development and giving & partnerships goals and criteria are being met
- Proactively inform the Executive Director of all relevant information and consistently ‘manage up’
- Team Management & Development:
- Support, coach, retain, and motivate a growing staff of 6 diverse individuals
- Work with direct reports and other staff to develop objective performance measures to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting for all employees
- Instill a sense of inspiration and accountability among team members by modeling tight oversight of individual and organization performance standards
- Facilitate teamwork and teambuilding amongst staff to develop and improve the organizational culture
- Program Management:
- Oversee the design, execution, evaluation and modification of all programs in partnership with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and the Boston Red Sox
- Develop effective and efficient tools for measuring the success of each program and partnership for both internal and external audiences
- Facilitate all necessary research as it relates to program and partnership validation
- Help create and manage all program budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility and program effectiveness
- Conduct regular assessments of all programs, partners and people to provide valuable recommendations for organizational improvements
- Manage peer organization’s partnerships and collaborations to maximize programs’ resources and outcomes
- Communicate the program’s goals, needs and achievements clearly and frequently to internal and external audiences
- Assist with improved branding, marketing, and awareness of organizational programs and partners
- Evaluation & Measurement:
- Create cross-departmental systems to track all relevant program data, and ensure that data is being captured, assessed, and reported to key stakeholders
- Create program key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and track program impact
- Integration, adoption and implementation of Salesforce to track and report KPIs, program participation, and impact of programs
- Creation of consistent dashboard to report status, growth and impact of the programs
- Other responsibilities and projects as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; Master’s degree preferred
- A track record as an effective communicator; highly developed skills in writing and public speaking; competence in creating strategic reports and dashboards, presentations, and performance/program evaluations; the ability to communicate the organization’s mission and interests to a broad audience
- Strong interpersonal and staff management skills, with successful experience managing multiple direct reports
- Excellent software skills, particularly with Microsoft Suite, Canva, Salesforce
- An ability to compile and analyze data to distill relevant information to inform decision making
- An affinity and proven track record for teamwork and an ability to work well with a broad range of constituencies
- Proven success in managing relationships and securing buy-in from key external partners
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines
- An ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; sound organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
