We are seeking an experienced and innovative Manager of Data Engineering to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders across various departments, including Product, Technology, Science, UX, and Operations, at all levels of our organization. As a key member of our team, you will develop and support data engineering, automation, analytics, and research initiatives that provide our stakeholders and customers with crucial insights into our business, enabling informed decision-making.

Key job responsibilities
Lead and Develop Teams

• Build and mentor a high-performing team of Data Engineers and Business Intelligence Engineers
• Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Strategic Partnership and Stakeholder Management
• Collaborate with leadership across divisions to understand data requirements and recommend appropriate ML/Business intelligence solutions
• Work closely with Engineering and Science teams to define and structure data elements that enhance analytical capabilities


Technical Leadership and Innovation

• Design and implement user-friendly data platforms enabling business teams to access and analyze large datasets
• Develop and maintain performance metrics, reports, dashboards, and analytics that drive key business decisions
• Establish standardized data reporting protocols across all customer groups
• Champion best practices in reporting and analysis, ensuring data integrity, robust testing, and thorough documentation

Business Impact and Communication

• Create and implement new metrics and studies to analyze customer behavior and improve performance
• Deliver clear written and verbal presentations of insights and recommendations to diverse audiences with varying technical backgrounds
• Demonstrate ability to work effectively within diverse, cross-functional teams

Basic Qualifications


- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Experience managing a data or BI team
- Experience leading and influencing the data or BI strategy of your team or organization
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience hiring, developing and promoting engineering talent

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience with AWS Tools and Technologies (Redshift, S3, EC2)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $153,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $264,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
