About The Role

The Investments Compliance team is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer who will join in the execution of the compliance program.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring portfolios for compliance with investment guidelines and limits using BlackRock’s Aladdin platform on a daily basis and producing reports on an ongoing basis,
  • Conducting ongoing oversight of the third-party relationships with BlackRock and Blackstone and supporting the manager-of-managers function on Compliance matters, and
  • Administering the Form ADV and Form PF filings. 

This role will interface with clients, portfolio managers, Operations, and Legal in the drafting of investment guidelines, coding investment and State Insurance guideline rules into the BlackRock Aladdin monitoring tool, utilizing various reports from internal accounting systems to develop and execute procedures for manually testing guidelines that cannot be coded, regularly monitoring for breaches and assisting in their resolution and escalation, as required. 

The role will also develop and execute a program of ongoing operational and compliance due diligence of BlackRock and Blackstone to verify compliance with Corebridge’s standards as external investment managers, including conducting regular sample-based testing, (which may be manual in nature), of outsourced portfolios for overseeing their adherence to investment guidelines.

Additionally, the role will lead the annual process for filing the Form ADV and Form PF for CIIUS.  This requires coordinating with stakeholders throughout CIIUS to gather data, track the receipt and verify the accuracy of information provided, and enter the data in the regulator’s filing portal. 

Finally, the Compliance Officer will be responsible for the ongoing execution of various “run the firm” investment management compliance routines that are aligned with the candidate’s aptitude, background, or desire for career progression.  This includes routines aligned with requirements of the SEC, FCA, and state insurance regulators.

Skills And Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role understands the fundamentals of monitoring investment portfolios for adherence to investment guidelines, has experience with the Compliance tools within BlackRock’s Aladdin platform and is able to identify the need to design additional processes/controls to achieve an end state goal, where no current solution exists.  

This is a senior role, requiring the ability to execute independently with minimal oversight within a small team.  Candidates will be expected to possess the following professional knowledge and personal attributes as a minimum:

Must Have:

  • At least 7 years of experience executing compliance routines related to an investment management function,
  • Proven experience in coding rules and reviewing alerts in BlackRock’s Aladdin platform, or similar investment guideline monitoring platform, to monitor compliance with limits and investment guidelines,
  • Proven experience with interpreting investment guidelines, understanding of various asset class characteristics, including data classification within rule attributes,
  • Proficient in Excel (including formulas, Vlookup, pivot tables, etc.),
  • Skilled in analyzing data in a variety of formats from multiple reports/systems (experience with Power BI reports is a plus)

Additional Skills

  • Experience in performing third-party oversight reviews, and/or compliance/operational due diligence reviews, of outsourced asset management functions is a plus,
  • Familiarity with the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and a basic understanding the requirements of the Form ADV and Form PF filing processes is a plus,
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity and willingness to self-learn through reading regulatory releases and publications, inquiring with business and process owners, and applying past experiences from similar scenarios to current tasks and challenges,
  • Ability to execute with independence, knows “what to do next” without instruction,
  • Ability to confront conflict and difficult issues in a professional, assertive, collaborative and proactive manner,
  • Ability to work as a team, share knowledge and coordinate amongst peers to achieve a common goal, and
  • Highly organized, with the ability to verify, inspect, and record documentation supporting results and disposition of matters.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $94,800 to $125,000 at the commencement of employment. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered will ultimately be dependent on multiple factors, which may include the candidate’s geographic location, skills, experience and other qualifications.

In addition, the position is eligible for a discretionary bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.

This position is based in Corebridge Financial’s Houston, TX or Jersey City, NJ office and is subject to our hybrid working policy, which gives colleagues the benefits of working both in an office and remotely.
