Job Description

A Dev Ops Engineer will take the lead in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining new and existing tooling/automation solutions to enable IFS to further drive the reliability and efficiency of its operation platforms.

A Dev Ops Engineer at IFS is a driver of further automation in the area in which the person is working and ensures the continued robustness of the team’s daily operations. This work is focused on ensuring that continuous integration, testing, and deployment are facilitated using industry Dev Ops best practices and tools.

A Dev Ops Engineer leverages their technical expertise to support the entire IFS organization in developing services that can always be deployed and tested with a high degree of automation. They demonstrate a strong commitment to the service and process quality, taking proactive steps to prevent issues and resolving them quickly and effectively when they do arise.

A Dev Ops Engineer at IFS continually enhances their understanding of processes and technical domains, leveraging this expertise to guide and support others.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies opportunities for new or enhanced automation to drive efficiencies within the organization, producing designs and plans to address those opportunities
  • Drives the maintenance and expansion of existing automation and related processes in the organization
    • Continuously improves the quality of deliveries by setting up monitoring, logging, and alerting
  • Create documentation, presentation, and training material
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders and ensures stakeholder satisfaction through supporting high-quality, thoroughly tested, and frequently deployed software.
    • Provides solution options and estimations
    • Perform pre-studies and prototype new practices
    • Fosters transparency and collaboration across teams to break down silos, align goals, and enable efficient communication.
    • Works closely with QA teams to deliver reliable, high-quality software by ensuring through testing and addressing issues promptly.
  • Shares knowledge, guide, and train colleagues
    • Provides direction by mentoring and coaching others
    • Trains colleagues to build software delivery pipelines
    • A change agent for widespread adoption of Dev Ops practices and mindset
    • Encourages pair programming to happen on a day-to-day basis, which is crucial for onboarding new engineers to teams
  • Contributes to activities related to service/program management
    • Assists in product-related market research and competitive analysis
    • Assists in defining future direction and vision for domains/concepts related to Dev Ops.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Recommended 5+ years of relevant experience
  • BA/BS required, Technical Diploma in Computer Science, MIS, or IT or a related field preferred.
  • Able to work / be available a couple hours a day that overlap with US Business Hours is a must.

Mandatory Skills

  • CI/CD Tools: Azure DevOps (including Pipelines, Repo, and Artifacts), Bitbucket Pipelines, ClickOnce is nice to have
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform (primary), Ansible (for configuration management)
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Docker
  • Scripting & Automation: YAML, Bash, PowerShell, Python
  • Cloud Based Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure (compute, networking, storage), Cost analysis with Azure resources
  • Operating Systems: Linux/Unix, Windows
  • Application Security Tools: Veracode or equivalent
  • Soft Skills: Good writing, and leadership skills
  • System Design Thinking: Ability to visualize, design, and implement scalable and secure infrastructure solutions

Good to have Skills

  • Testing Tools & Methodologies:
    • Selenium
    • Kubernetes
    • Understanding of CI-Integrated testing strategies
  • Monitoring & Observability: Azure Monitor, Azure Application Insights
  • AI & Automation Integration: Experience with leveraging AI tools and technologies to:
    • Enhance code quality (ex: AI-assisted static analysis, code review tools)
    • Accelerate Development workflows (ex: GitHub Copilot, AI-based test generation)
    • Automate repetitive infrastructure or scripting tasks
    • Innovate across the software engineering lifecycle (ex: troubleshooting or incident responses)
