Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Department Chair, the Certificate Programs Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the student lifecycle for the four certificate programs in the Counseling Department: Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Student Assistance Counselor, Advanced Counseling Certificate, and School Counselor Certificate. This position also coordinates with faculty, staff, students, and fieldwork sites. The Coordinator acts as the liaison between the New Jersey Professional Examiners Committee for counselor licensure, the Department of Education for School Counselor certification, and the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services for CADC certification.

This part-time position is based on a 24.5-hour workweek.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate all aspects of the various certificate programs in the Counseling Department, including: recruitment, admissions, enrollment and advising.

  • Advise all students relative to coursework, internship placement, and credentialing.

  • Oversee all aspects of marketing the certificate programs, including development and delivery of program information sessions, creation of marketing materials flyers, management of social media, recruitment of current MA students, and staff conference marketing opportunities.

  • Initiate and maintain partnerships with academic departments for curriculum development and program opportunities.

  • Update the certificate program handbook annually.

  • Partner with department faculty to develop innovative ways of delivering CDC coursework.

  • Provide counselor licensure education to the Counseling department students.

  • Provide subject matter expertise to support the coordination and development of addiction courses.

  • Serve as liaison with New Jersey licensure board, Department of Education, and Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

  • Develop, manage, and oversee continuing education programming for the department and site supervisors in collaboration with Clinical Coordinator

  • Contribute to department accreditation efforts.

  • Participate in departmental student review and retention processes for certificate program students.

  • Work with GPCs, DPD, and Clinical Coordinator on academic programming, curriculum, and department programming for supervisors.

  • Collaborate with the Community Clinic to develop substance abuse services.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Management retains the right to change or add job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling.

  • Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in addiction counseling, substance use education and prevention in P-12 schools, or a related field.

  • Licensed Professional Counselor.

  • NJ Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

  • Experience collaborating with community partners.

PREFERRED:

  • Three (3) years of professional experience in administrative coordination.

  • Student Assistance Coordinator Certificate.

  • Online or hybrid teaching experience.

Salary Range

$49,980.61-$54,976.58 Annually
