Purpose
The Advanced Tactical Systems Division, of the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Electrical/Mechanical Technician (TSA III) to support the fabrication, maintenance, and testing of specialized electro-mechanical systems. This position involves the assembly of prototype and production units, construction of acoustic arrays, and collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to ensure the delivery of high-quality components and assemblies.
Responsibilities
Fabricate prototype and production electro-mechanical assemblies.
Evaluate and repair specialized electrical and mechanical equipment.
Construct and encapsulate acoustic arrays and cables.
Interpret and apply instructions, schematics, and technical drawings effectively.
Manage part procurement, vendor coordination, and quality control of components and assemblies.
Maintain and update inventory records; perform routine data entry to support tracking and logistics.
Maintain accurate documentation for quality assurance and assembly processes.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
HS/GED.
Two years of experience in the construction and maintenance of specialized electronic equipment using hand and machine tools.
Solid understanding of electronic circuits, wiring, soldering techniques, and the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word: able to learn features such as formatting, functions, and formulas. Math Skills: Proficient with math operators, rounding, fractions, measurement, area, and perimeter.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), with the ability to create and edit documents, spreadsheets, and emails beyond basic functionality.
Demonstrated ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member with and without daily supervision, work several overlapping projects over a short period of time, ability to work within an environment with rapidly changing priorities, and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.
US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate for the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and document issues in complex electrical and mechanical systems at both the component and system levels.
Hands-on experience with manual soldering and rework of fine-pitch surface mount PCBs; current J-STD-001 certification preferred.
Skilled in precision assembly techniques, including work performed under a microscope.
Proven experience managing inventory control systems and coordinating part procurement with external vendors.
Strong planning and organizational skills, with a track record of success in dynamic, customer-driven environments.
Experience using CAD software (Solidworks, AUTOCAD, Etc.) at a basic level.
Possession of a valid Texas Boater Safety License.

Salary Range
$45,000-$49,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications.
Working Conditions
Work in a shared integration lab, with access to machining equipment.
Work in a production environment building assemblies that involve adhesives, potting compounds, solvents, and other hazardous materials.
Occasional: work at the Lake Travis Test Station, interstate and intrastate travel.
May work around electrical and mechanical hazards.
Physical ability to climb ladders and lift items weighing over 50 lbs.
Some weekend, evening and holiday work.
