About the Role:

Chemical Market Analytics (CMA), by OPIS, a Dow Jones Company is seeking a Principal Analyst to work as a part of a team covering market research and analysis of the Asian Nylon Fibers & Feedstocks market. Key activities will be providing market analysis and contribution to clients and market reports maintaining, updating, and expanding the CMA database and models. This role reports to the Executive Director (Aromatics).

Chemical Market Analytics by OPIS, a Dow Jones company, enables stakeholders in the global chemical industry to improve operational efficiency with deep insights, future outlooks, price discovery and consultation from a celebrated team of subject matter experts. We offer short- and long-term market coverage for more than 200 core building-block chemicals with a full suite of advisory services and top-tier events held around the globe. The worldwide chemical industry looks to Chemical Market Analytics to guide decisions and help manage risk across the entire value chain. 

You Will:

  • Provide key market updates for Nylon Fibers and Feedstocks along with analytics and forecasts.

  • Generating and analysing trends, cost, and demand dependencies for products involved. 

  • Prepare charts and tables that are published routinely and update them as required. 

  • Write regular weekly and monthly reports for selected products.  

  • Meet clients and participate the industry events; make insightful discussions/presentations on the outlook for concerned products.

  • Supply/Demand – maintain production capacity database, and supply-demand balance forms through entire product chains including annual L-forms, short forms and quarterly balances as needed.

  • Working with other product service leads, engage functions, including Sales & Marketing, to facilitate business growth.

  • Engage with other business lines to leverage the Chemical Market Analytics total solution.

  • Work with the global team to ensure global product area consistency and continuity.

You Have:

  • 8-10 years industry experience. General chemical industry knowledge is essential, and previous experience of working in the Aromatics sector will be preferred.

  • An engineering degree is preferred. An MBA is a strong plus.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese is essential.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to achieve set deadlines.

  • Ability to think through questions and/or problems and independently provide solutions.

  • An eye for accuracy and details and any previous experience to demonstrate such will be an added advantage.

  • Confident to speak/present to global clients or any internal/external events. Confident to face challenges and requests from clients.

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional Suite. You must have an Advance level expertise in Microsoft Excel.
