Pattern Storage Technician

OVERVIEW:
The Pattern Storage Technician is responsible for maintaining and organizing pattern and core box inventory, ensuring availability for production, and supporting safe storage and transport throughout the foundry. This position works closely with various departments and utilizes both physical and digital systems to track, move, and care for wooden patterns and equipment critical to shop operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely conduct all work and follow company rules and policies.
- Use SAP to find and maintain pattern information, including the locations of patterns and core boxes.
- Operate forklifts and cranes as certified.
- Create red tag notifications for patterns requiring repairs or replacement.
- Review foundry production schedules for conflicts.
- Check foundry work instructions, drawings, and pattern inventory records to ensure accurate setup for combination and number changes.
- Move patterns and core boxes between the foundry, core room, and pattern shop as required.
- Assist the pattern shop with operations that require a forklift.
- Maintain and organize pattern storage buildings according to pattern inventory.
- Work with the shipping department to move patterns to and from offsite storage, external vendors, or customers.
- Maintain records of all pattern transfers.
- Perform minor pattern repairs as needed.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in all pattern storage buildings.
- Complete daily safety and maintenance records for all forklifts.
- Create Big Foot work orders for any necessary forklift repairs.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the pattern shop supervisor or team leader.
- Use simple measuring tools such as tape measures and rulers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Forklift certification required.
- Wood working experience required.
- Previous experience in an industrial environment preferred.
- Attention to detail and ability to interact with multiple departments, including molding, core room, and shipping.
- Basic computer skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequently:
- Standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, stooping
- Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 75 lbs.
Occasionally:
- Overhead work
- Climbing ladders or stairs
- Driving forklifts
- Operating cranes
