Position Overview:
The Category Buyer – Cast and Machined Components is responsible for sourcing and managing suppliers for castings and machined parts across multiple programs. This role requires deep technical knowledge of casting processes (e.g., sand, die, investment, and permanent mold), machining capabilities, and cost drivers. The buyer will lead sourcing initiatives, manage supplier contracts, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management:
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for cast and machined components, aligned with program timelines, cost targets, and technical requirements.
Technical Expertise:
Evaluate supplier capabilities in casting and machining processes. Understand process limitations, tooling requirements, and cost structures to support design-for-manufacturing and supplier selection.
Cost Management:
Analyze cost breakdowns, negotiate pricing, and identify cost reduction opportunities through VA/VE, localization, and process optimization.
Contract Management:
Lead RFQs, negotiate commercial terms, and manage supplier contracts including pricing agreements, tooling ownership, and service levels.
Project Management:
Support new product launches and engineering changes by managing sourcing timelines, supplier readiness, and cross-functional alignment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and finance teams to ensure supplier solutions meet technical specifications and business objectives.
Supplier Development & Risk Mitigation:
Monitor supplier performance, drive continuous improvement, and implement risk mitigation strategies for critical components.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in procurement or category management, preferably in castings or machined components
- Strong technical understanding of casting processes, machining operations, and associated cost drivers
- Proven negotiation and contract management skills
- Experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration
- Proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba) and cost analysis tools
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with global sourcing and supplier development
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards related to engine components
- APICS, CPSM, or Six Sigma certification is a plus
The anticipated pay range for this position is $72,000 to $115,300 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
