Senior Manager, Solution Engineering– Austin, TX (Hybrid)

Senior Manager Engineering plays a pivotal role in leading and developing an engineering team, ensuring successful delivery of technical projects, and aligning technical strategy with broader business objectives.

You will have strong technical knowledge to guide, mentor and lead the teams.  Lead technical design initiatives ranging from roadmap approach to new technology adoption. Manage, mentor, and foster the growth of software engineers, including hiring, performance management, and career development. Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from defining project scope and requirements to resource allocation, task assignment, and ensuring timely and high-quality delivery within budget. Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning within the team, keeping up with industry trends and emerging technologies. Collaborate closely with business leaders, product management and other cross-functional teams to define road maps, prioritize features, and ensure engineering initiatives align with business goals. Ensure operational excellence by establishing a DevOps mindset ensuring applications are highly available and secure.

Role Responsibilities

Plan and execute engineering projects with strong technical leadership and decision-making

  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from defining project scope and requirements to resource allocation, task assignment, and ensuring timely and high-quality delivery within budget. Provide technical guidance, drive architectural decisions, and assess the feasibility of technical solutions, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.

Stakeholder partnership with Collaboration and communication

  • Collaborate closely with product management and other cross-functional teams to define roadmaps, prioritize features, and ensure engineering initiatives align with business goals. Effectively communicate technical concepts and project updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders (including business leaders, product managers, designers, quality assurance professionals, and senior leadership), facilitating collaboration and alignment across teams.

Innovation and continuous improvement along with technical debt management

  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning within the team, keeping up with industry trends and emerging technologies. Strategically managing technical debt, balancing long-term technical vision with immediate project deliverables. 

Foster Operational excellence ensuring secure and available applications

  • Ensure operational excellence, including managing application support teams, deployments, and incident management. Foster a culture of DevOps SRE mindset adopting AIOPS and various industry standard tools to ensure applications are available and secure

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (master’s degree preferred) or equivalent work experience. 
  • 5+ years of extensive technical experience in software development, including 3+ years of leading and managing teams.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in relevant technologies, such as: Java, Architecture, Cloud, Infrastructure, and Software Development. Proficiency in software development methodologies, such as Agile and Scrum.
  • 5+ years of professional experience utilizing SOAP/REST building APIs; professional experience utilizing modern technologies and integration architecture disciplines including hybrid cloud, APIs, streaming technologies, event-driven systems, self-service data platforms, and analytics to meet business needs, troubleshoot applications and provide implementation utilizing best practices to development.
  • 2-3+ years’ professional experience utilizing Docker, Kubernetes, Postgres and Capella. Utilizing data structures, design patterns, Java, C#, Rest, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, Spring batch, and Kafka.  Experience utilizing CI tools including Cloudbees, CD tools including Spinnaker, Jenkins, SonarQube analysis, CheckMarx, XRAY, and Swagger, AWS services API Gateway, Fargate, EC2, ALB, NLB, S3.  Utilizing Python and creating DAGs in Apache Airflow and professional experience utilizing Dynatrace, Opensearch, Splunk, Service Now, Snowflake to create dashboards and monitoring alerts.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Experience with hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and make data-driven decisions.

Salary 

The base salary range is $140,000 – $170,000 USD per year, total on target compensation includes a base salary plus long-term and short-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidate’s qualifications, skills and competencies.
