Position Summary:

The IT Transformation Manager will lead the IT organization's process improvement and change management activities by using knowledge of business processes, change management methodologies, communication planning, organizational readiness assessment, and stakeholder analyses.  Responsible for the development and delivery of a career development program tied to the future needs of the IT organization based on the transformational strategy. This position acts as a change agent to implement and manage people and process best practices across the IT organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Change Management:

  • Manage the development and delivery of a significant element of an organizational change management initiative for the IT organization. 

  • Conducts gap analysis between current and future states to identify components of the overall change strategy.

  • Prioritizes components of a project, program, or portfolio work in context with risks, activities, stakeholders, etc. across the life of the project or program.  Identify, manage and control project related changes.

  • Partner with IT leadership to execute change management strategies, ensuring that team members are prepared for technological shifts, system updates, and new software rollouts. 

  • Monitor the implementation of change management initiatives to ensure the disruption of normal business operations is minimized. 

  • Resolve identified issues promptly and sustainably by utilizing the organization's issue management systems, solving problems, identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, deploying preventative strategies, and monitoring and reporting on the progress of open issues.

  • Identify risks, dependencies, and constraints associated with evolving IT ways of working, escalating these matters where appropriate.

Learning and Development:

  • Partner with business leaders to identify emerging needs, create effective training programs, and enhance the Company’s overall IT capabilities to support its business strategy and customer-focused innovations. 

  • Develop and implement a learning strategy for the IT workforce, ensuring that all training initiatives align with the broader business objectives, digital transformation goals, and technological advancements in the retail industry.

  • Develop training initiatives, content and career development plans for the IT department that will ensure team members are equipped with the necessary technical skills to support the retail business’ evolving technological needs, and the overall change and transformational strategies of the organization. 

Stakeholder Engagement: 

  • Determines and identifies potential stakeholders, analyzes their expectations, and develops strategies for managing stakeholders and their expectations.

  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans for projects to identify relevant stakeholders, develop positive relationships, and ensure that each stakeholder has an appropriate share of voice.

Strategic Planning, Feasibility Analysis and Innovation: 

  • Identify when changes should be initiated by conducting complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective.  These might be changes to business processes, ways of working, business unit structures, software applications, systems, etc.

  • Document and deliver findings to senior IT leadership complete feasibility analysis on implementing changes.

  • Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues and evaluate their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization. 

  • Review existing operations in a major area of work and implement innovation processes to generate new ideas and ensure the required continuous improvement outcomes are delivered. 

Communication:

  • Develop and/or deliver a plan for significant aspects of internal communications with guidance from senior leaders.

Analytics & Reporting:

  • Develop metrics to measure the effectiveness programs, regularly assess team member performance, and provide actionable feedback for continuous improvement. 

  • Analyze trends and compile data in a way to aid in decision-making.

Business Collaboration:

  • Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, regulation, or operational management for the team.

  • Monitors, interprets and understands policies and procedures and ensures their alignment with organizational strategies and work objectives.

  • Interprets, contributes to, or leads business case creation with client departments to quantify current costs, justify project investment, and identify the return on investment.

  • Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences and reading specialist media. 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT overseeing digital transformation initiatives and working with agile teams. 

  • Experience in learning and development leadership role, ideally within a retail, technology, or large enterprise environment, and familiarity with virtual training tools helpful.
