About the role 

 
We’re seeking an Associate, Corporate Finance who is responsible for performing the valuations and financial analysis associated with all major strategic capital initiatives of the Group including mergers, acquisitions, investments, divestments, capital raisings, new project developments and corporate structure transactions.


You will bring a commercial and technical lens to valuation and financial insights that will assist the Group with its investment decision making, with a focus on underlying investment opportunities and their impacts on the corporate metrics of the wider Group.


You’ll join an innovative team operate under a matrix model, whereby the team reports through to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, with team members working closely with the development team.

Day-to-day, you will: 

  • Undertake analysis in relation to the Group’s take-over defence strategy and prepare of Capital Strategy and Board Strategy papers, Investment valuations and analysis

  • Prepare valuation financial models to support Group investments and assist with the preparation of valuation reports for consideration by the Board

  • Ensure that valuations and analysis are performed in a manner which is consistent with Transurban’s approach to investment evaluation with appropriate sign off on assumptions from relevant internal stakeholders and Corporate investment impacts

  • Undertake analysis of impacts that potential investments have on corporate metrics, including equity raising requirements, DPS forecasts, group liquidity, balance sheet metrics and credit rating metrics Corporate financial model

  • Develop and maintain a consolidated corporate financial model for the Group, ensuring it is updated and audited in accordance with internal and regulatory requirements

  • Work with external financial model auditors during model audit and review 

  • processes and update models in accordance with those processes

  • Prepare financial models accurately, in the required timeframes and capable of being provided to asset co-investors

  • Critique the relevant inputs required to update and maintain financial 

  • models ensure that updates are provided in a timely and accurate manner with appropriate sign off from relevant internal stakeholders

  • Perform the semi-annual ARA (Asset Recoverable Amount) process required for each of the Group’s assets, for input to the preparation of the Group’s financial statements and regulatory requirements

  • Update inputs and outputs from financial models for financing purposes

  • Prepare project implementation plans and post implementation reviews and support the project management function 

 
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including: 

  • Proven Strong Corporate Finance experience in carrying out similar work in an investment bank, consulting firm or financial institution, with a strong commercial acumen

  • Strong and proven ability to work with and build complex financial models (including use of macros)

  • Outstanding financial and commercial analysis skills, including excellent spreadsheet and data analysis skills

  • Experience in new business development and implementation and corporate finance, acquisition, investment, capital raising and divestment transactions

  • Ability to effectively critique analysis and use commercial judgement to assess outcomes

  • Ability to quickly grasp new ideas and concepts

  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with ability to present ideas, findings and recommendations in a clear and engaging way, in both written and verbal form

  • Appropriate tertiary education and professional qualifications Ideally in Finance
