THE ROLE

Entering an exciting new phase of growth for the organisation, we are now seeking an experienced Sales Engineer to join our high-achieving team based in Christchurch NZ.

The Sales Engineer is responsible for driving sales growth, expanding market share, and increasing revenue across the South Island territory. This role focuses on identifying new opportunities, developing key customer accounts, and maximising profitability through proactive business development. By combining strong sales skills with product and application knowledge, the Sales Engineer will deliver value to customers and contribute directly to the company’s national sales objectives.

This is a permanent, full-time role offering an excellent $$$ salary and bonus. Interviews are available immediately.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales & Business Development

• Consistently prospect, qualify, and convert new business opportunities across key sectors (construction, mining, transport, manufacturing, agriculture, etc.).

• Manage and grow sales with existing customers, ensuring high levels of service and satisfaction.

• Achieve sales targets, margin objectives, and growth goals set by the National Sales Manager.

Customer Account Management

• Manage and grow key customer relationships within the territory, ensuring retention and loyalty.

• Develop account plans for top customers to identify growth opportunities and protect revenue streams.

• Provide responsive, solutions-oriented service to strengthen trust and credibility.

Pipeline & Reporting

• Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline with accurate forecasting.

• Use Excel/CRM to track all opportunities, sales activity, and customer interactions.

• Provide regular sales performance updates to the National Sales Manager, including competitor insights and market intelligence.

Market Development

Monitor industry activity across the South Island and actively target emerging opportunities.

• Represent the company professionally at all times, including trade shows, industry events, and site visits to build brand presence

• Feed market trends and customer requirements back into the business to support growth strategies.

WHAT YOU BRING

Proven track record of success in B2B sales, preferably in industrial, mechanical or technical environments.

• Strong business development and account management skills.

• Commercial acumen with ability to negotiate profitable outcomes.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities

Experience selling hydraulic hose, fittings, or related engineered products preferred
