POSITION SUMMARY
The Center for Aging Resources and Enrichment (CARE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering older adults to age gracefully, independently, and in place. We provide holistic programming that supports physical wellness, cognitive engagement, and community connection. Our fall prevention program, developed by licensed Occupational Therapists, combines evidence-based education, functional movement, and mindful practices to reduce fall risk and promote healthy aging.
The Senior Specialist for Wellness is responsible to implement and lead educational and movement-based fall prevention classes for older adults. This role also includes digital engagement support, such as assisting with content creation, wellness education videos, and social media coordination.
This is a part time 12 month position work 2-3 days per week.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties specific to this position:
Fall Prevention Program Delivery
Lead small group classes that integrate balance, strength, and flexibility exercises
Educate participants on fall risk, home safety, and wellness strategies
Adapt movement and instruction to meet a variety of functional levels
Monitor safety and provide encouragement to build participant confidence
Wellness Education and Outreach
Facilitate group discussions or workshops on fall prevention, caregiving, nutrition, healthy habits, aging in place
Contribute to digital content creation: short wellness videos, exercise demonstrations, or educational posts
Collaborate with CARE team to share content across newsletters, email campaigns, and social media
Communication and Reporting
Track attendance, gather informal outcomes of feedback, and report updates to the program coordinator
Maintain communication with participants and caregivers in a professional and supportive manner

Performs a variety of related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with older adults in a wellness, healthcare, or community setting
Background in movement, health, or therapeutic instruction (e.g. yoga, personal training, group fitness, senior fitness certification, recreational therapy, etc.)
Excellent group facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
Comfort with basic digital tools for content sharing and creation (e.g. Canva, Instagram, Facebook, Zoom, etc.)
Certifications in yoga, Tai Chi, or group fitness with senior population focus preferred
Degree or certification in health coaching, gerontology, nutrition, or wellness preferred
Familiarity with fall prevention concepts and evidence-based aging programs preferred
Experience with digital engagement (e.g. social media management, Canva, video editing) preferred
CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
Excellent organizational, project management, and computer skills
Ability to treat each client, volunteer, and staff member with dignity and respect
Sensitivity, flexibility and top-of-the-line interpersonal skills
Enthusiasm for the mission of the organization and the goals of the program
Must have excellent English speaking and writing ability Education/Experience:
Experience as a Fitness Instructor, preferred but not required
Must have a reliable vehicle
Experience providing home visits and therapy in Onondaga County. (Mileage reimbursed)
Additional Information:
Pay Range: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
