The MAPLE Lab (PI, Erin Ottmar) at WPI is hiring a Learning Science Researcher to help support several research grants in math cognition, perception, and learning. This position will join an interdisciplinary team to work on several NSF projects examining the intersections of math cognition, eye tracking, perception, and learning. This temporary position is hourly (up to 20 hours a week).JOB DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Analyze data using a variety of quantitative research methods from data collected from middle school through college aged students
● Write manuscripts for journals and conferences
● Collaborate with our team of researchers and faculty at WPI and other institutions
● Mentor undergraduate and graduate students who are working on these projects
● Attend project meetings
● Conduct literature reviews
REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate must have a PhD in learning sciences and have substantive knowledge and background in education sciences, learning, math education, quantitative methods, and/or cognitive science. Given the interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of this project, applicants should have an interest in learning about and applying theories, perspectives, and methodologies from other areas. The candidate should also have strong quantitative research and writing skills, have strong communication skills, and be highly organized.
