Requirements
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Consultant in Surgical Oncology to join our oncology care team. This role is ideal for fresh postgraduates or early-career surgical oncologists who are passionate about cancer treatment and committed to advancing patient care. As a Consultant in Surgical Oncology, you will play a pivotal role in the diagnosis, staging, and surgical management of various cancers, working in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive cancer care.
Key Responsibilities
- Surgical Care & Treatment
- Perform surgeries for the diagnosis, staging, and treatment of cancers across multiple organ systems.
- Ensure precise and complete tumor resection while prioritizing preservation of organ function and minimizing surgical complications.
- Utilize evidence-based surgical techniques and adhere to international oncology guidelines.
- Patient Evaluation & Planning
- Assess patients thoroughly to determine surgical candidacy, risks, and the most appropriate interventions.
- Develop personalized surgical treatment plans in coordination with other oncology specialists.
- Counsel patients and families regarding procedures, risks, benefits, and postoperative expectations.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists to provide integrated cancer care.
- Actively participate in tumor boards, case discussions, and multidisciplinary treatment planning sessions.
- Contribute surgical expertise to the development of comprehensive care pathways.
- Postoperative Care & Follow-Up
- Provide vigilant postoperative care to ensure optimal recovery, manage complications, and monitor patient progress.
- Track patients for recurrence, disease progression, or late-onset complications.
- Collaborate with rehabilitation teams to support recovery and quality of life.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain detailed and accurate surgical records, operative notes, and treatment histories.
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, hospital standards, and medical ethics in every aspect of practice.
- Contribute to departmental audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Research, Learning & Development
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in surgical oncology, robotic-assisted surgeries, and minimally invasive techniques.
- Participate in academic discussions, workshops, and training sessions to enhance surgical expertise.
- Contribute to ongoing clinical research, trials, and publications in oncology.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Education: MBBS with MS/DNB (General Surgery) and MCh/DNB in Surgical Oncology (or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Experience: 0+ years; fresh postgraduates and early-career specialists welcome.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in performing oncologic surgeries across organ systems.
- Knowledge of advanced surgical oncology techniques, including minimally invasive and laparoscopic methods.
- Ability to integrate surgical care with chemotherapy, radiation, and targeted therapy approaches.
- Soft Skills:
