Position Summary
- Responsible for answering telephone, scheduling tests, pre-certifying and registering patients, coordinating test results, data collection and maintaining data.

Experience and Skills
- Technical Experience: 1 year
- Technical Experience for Diabetes Department:
- Basic medical terminology knowledge
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
- Typing minimum 40 wpm
Physical Activities
- Intermittent hand manipulation required
- Intermittent lifting and carrying of 20 pounds
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Schedules patients for procedures
- Posts case data and maintains case log
- Enters patient charges
- Provides pre-certification and ABN’s as required
- General clerical duties
- Lead: Assists with all scheduler roles
- Lead: Assists dept manager as assigned and covers in their absence
- Diabetes Department:
- Accurately transcribes both internal and external referrals into EPIC
- Reviews provider order for necessary components. Contacts referring provider office for new order if incomplete.
- Manages work queue for nutrition and diabetes services for multiple locations throughout the system
- Follows scheduling policy and procedures to accurately identify patient, insurances, referrals, and obtains required signatures where applicable
- Accurately screens ABNs to determine medical necessity, explains ABN to patient, obtains signatures and reviews document for completeness.
- Provides basic nutrition and diabetes specific health information
- Generates reports to identify cancellations/no shows and reviews service history to determine need for rescheduling
- Facilitates collection of data for CQI & KPI initiatives
- Obtains appropriate referrals for outpatient follow-up services post-discharge from hospital
- Connects with patients post-discharge from hospital to complete patient experience survey
- Communicates with referring providers for any patient not receiving services as prescribed (ie unable to contact, no-show, multiple cancellations, etc)
- Generates daily reports for inpatient glycemic data
- Assists with data collection for annual accreditation reporting
- Schedules conference rooms for group session, staff meetings, trainings, etc
- Assists with management of staff outlook calendars
- General clerical duties as assigned
Compensation (Commensurate with experience):
