We are looking for a talented Controls System Engineering Student to join our team specializing in Controls & Electronics for our Cummins-Accelera facility in Troy, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Supporting Engineering : By building electric-drive-axle electrical components and modules. Being able to support with building test benches and wiring schematics.
  • Compliance Knowledge : Developing and maintaining laboratory environment and automation testing using CAN tools and other tools for data acquisition. 
  • Employee Relations : Assisting other team members within the controls and electronics organization.
  • Policy Adherence : Ensuring all lab safety and policies at met and followed.
  • Team Support : Supporting team members in need of controls setup and system integration.
  • Report Management : Understanding and assisting in controls automation testing and generation of test reports that meets with today’s V-model structure.
  • Engineering Projects : Assisting with special projects, such as new and developing products for electric drive vehicles.
  • Record Keeping : Coordinating and maintaining laboratory test setups, materials, and component inventories.

    Maintain precision in documentation and testing to ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety policies, reducing errors and improving reliability.

    Stay flexible and open to change, adjusting quickly to shifting project priorities, new technologies, and evolving team needs.

    Build strong relationships with colleagues by being approachable, supportive, and collaborative—fostering a positive and productive work environment.

    Keep up with advancements in electric vehicle technology, lab safety practices, and automation tools to stay relevant and contribute innovative ideas.

    Dive into the details of controls systems, CAN tools, and automation testing to deepen your understanding and enhance your problem-solving capabilities.

    Take responsibility for your tasks, proactively seek ways to improve lab processes, and contribute to engineering projects with enthusiasm and accountability.

Education:

  • Pursuing a degree in engineering, electric vehicle systems, or a similar field.

 

 

Experience:

  • Mechanical Experience with building automotive harnesses, able to solder, populate and depopulate circuit boards, automotive hand and power tools.
  • Software Experience with MATLAB Simulink, Creo Schematics CAD, CAN tools such as Vector, ETAS, or Peak-Systems.

 

Compensation Range $19.25-$26.95/hr

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
