The Opportunity
This role is on a hybrid schedule in Detroit or Charlotte.
The Operational Loss Manager will lead the Enterprise Operational Loss Program. The manager will oversee the adherence to the Enterprise Operational Risk Loss Management Standard and the Operational Risk Management Framework for Ally.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills and be capable of providing direction and collaborate with Independent Risk Management (IRM), Business Lines (BL), and Data Sources to implement and maintain sound risk management practices.
The Work Itself
- Establish and manage Operational Loss processes and routines to drive ongoing oversight and enforcement of standards across the enterprise to enable a strong risk management culture.
- Implement policy, framework, standards, procedures, and supporting technology for the Enterprise Operational Risk Loss Program.
- Provide guidance and subject matter expertise/training to all Program partners, as required, in support of compliance with Operational Loss (including Stress Testing) Program, including integration with other operational risk framework components.
- Ensure all processes, standards, and procedures are kept current, consistent with documentation, reviewed periodically for compliance, and assessed against the business need and risk appetite framework.
- Manage and guide the CPST exercise execution and the Operational Loss Capital Planning submission.
- Analyze data to draw relevant conclusions and communicate key findings to the Operational Risk Leadership team.
- Lead Operational Loss data quality maturity and analytical/reporting enhancements.
- Provide subject matter expertise in Operational Loss improvement initiatives (Loss data assessment, Archer enhancements, methodology/modeling approaches for Operational Loss forecasting for stress testing, etc.).
- Lead external research and benchmarking to enhance, update and maintain sound Operational Risk Management practices in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standard methodology.
- Hire, train, and manage staff.
- Provide periodic updates to Senior Director and executive leadership through reporting routines.

The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's degree required: MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting , or Audit within the financial services industry; a background in Operational Losses, Loss Forecasting/Modeling is preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, coach, mentor, and delegate. Experience managing multiple team members is preferred.
- 2 +years of experience with GRC tools preferred (e.g., Archer or equivalent experience)
- Must be self-motivated, willing to take on initiative, capable of working independently, and manage through ambiguity to produce results
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement and manage process change including automation of data capture and data quality/reconciliation processes.
- Working knowledge of risk management components (e.g., policy/procedures, governance, reporting, risk control self-assessments, issue management) in a regulated environment.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills (attention to detail, fast paced, self-directed, organized, etc.) with a proven track record of increasing responsibilities within the organization.
- Strong influencing and communication skills and ability to provide advice/direction to all levels of employees and management.
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft products (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)

Base Pay Range: $90000 - $150000 USDAn individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications.
