Job Description

We’re looking for a Web Engineer to join our Receive team.

As a global product team, we help over 200,000 consumers and businesses receive payments into their Wise accounts every month. We do this by offering convenient requesting and invoicing features, and by giving them local and international account details, that let them get paid like a local from around the world.

We also partner with our regional teams to ensure they can efficiently launch new currencies — help our customers understand the nuances of collecting local payments in new regions.

Our features help customers receive over £10 billion into their Wise accounts every month — and as a web engineer in the team, you'll play a fundamental role in shaping the customer experience for receiving payments and empowering them to build their financial lives with Wise. We're looking for someone with solid web expertise who can work closely with product, design, and analytics to build this experience.

As a Web Engineer, you will:

Collaborate closely with product, design, analytics and other teams across the company to deliver impactful experiences to Wise’s customers - as a cross functional team
Be responsible for the overall health and quality of the frontend services that power Wise’ onboarding experience
Work closely with your team to plan, scope and build consistent experience across Wise’s web and native applications
Work closely with your lead to own the availability and scalability of our onboarding product flows and architecture and help shape your team’s technical roadmap
Have the opportunity to guide and mentor your junior peers through their technical and professional growth
Have an impact across the broader Wise product and across Wise engineering as a whole,
Work closely with other teams to drive cross team technical initiatives to scale and grow the technical landscape that powers Wise’s onboarding experience

Qualifications

What do you need?

We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more we do want to hear from you!

Experience building and designing scalable and performant systems that handle large amounts of traffic - ideally using React based frontend applications, Javascript / Typescript
Experience with modern frontend testing practices, like end to end testing and visual regression testing and frameworks like jest, chromatic, cypress or similar
Experience with Continuous Integration and package management tooling like pnpm, Artifactory, Github Actions and others.
Experience working closely with and collaborating actively with backend engineers to drive architecture and API design
A strong product mindset and passion for UX – you prioritise work with customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points
Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to non-technical audiences

It would a bonus if you also have:

Expert knowledge of modern frontend frameworks and technologies like Next.js, React Testing Library, SSR and Turborepo/monorepos
Exposure to backend languages or technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, microservices architectures or microfrontends
