Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in Java and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular) to join our growing team. You’ll play a key role in designing and building scalable, cloud-based applications that power our business.

You’ll be part of our Technology Center in Portugal, working closely with a global engineering team across the US, Portugal, and India. This is a hands-on development role with opportunities to influence architecture, mentor others, and contribute to cross-functional initiatives.

As part of this role, you’ll help evolve the next generation of our core technology platforms, integrating strategic market research and AI capabilities into our products. It’s a great opportunity to make a real impact while growing within a collaborative and international environment.

Our team follows a hybrid work model, typically meeting in-office once per week to collaborate and connect. We work from our private office space in Atrium Saldanha, located in Lisbon’s central business district. The space is part of Ávila Spaces, recognized as one of the best shared workspaces in the world, offering premium facilities, entertainment and a vibrant professional environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using Java and Angular.
  • Develop our core market research platform, collaborating with product managers, other software engineers and quality assurance to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, design discussions, and code reviews.
  • Contribute to the evolution of our microservices architecture and development practices, leveraging our cloud-based environments.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help foster a culture of technical excellence.
  • Support production systems and help resolve issues when needed.

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • 2+ years of experience with Java (or equivalent OO language such as .NET/C# with a strong willingness to learn Java).
  • 2+ years of experience in frontend development using JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular).
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and design patterns.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., MS SQL Server).
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Demonstrated stability in previous roles (reasonable average tenure).
  • Degree in Software Engineering or equivalent background
  • Alternatively, candidates with 8+ years of proven experience and a recognized software development certification may also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in frontend development with Angular or equivalent technology
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps tools.
  • Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Exposure to object-oriented databases is a plus.
