The JDI Tax Team is a dedicated group of professionals responsible for providing Canadian and US tax services and advice to the diverse businesses that make up the J.D. Reporting to the Director, Taxation, the Senior Tax Manager will work with the JDI Tax Team to provide Canadian income tax services and advice. The ideal candidate will play a lead role in providing these services and this advice to some of our most significant Canadian businesses. To succeed in this position, you must be willing to spend time to learn about these businesses and develop key relationships within the organization.
The successful candidate must be able to work with other JDI Tax Team members (including by mentoring more junior team members and by working with your counterparts in US income tax and in indirect tax) to identify tax opportunities and to improve the services and advice that we provide. This position is located on-site at our head office in Saint John, NB.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of Canadian corporate income tax returns and other tax-related filings.
- Prepare and review year-end and interim Canadian corporate income tax provisions.
- Work with finance, legal, operations and external advisors to structure and provide guidance on the tax implications of business transactions, reorganizations and corporate initiatives.
- Manage tax audits and inquiries from Canadian tax authorities.
- Monitor legislative changes and assess potential impacts on the organization.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, controls and systems.
- Mentor junior tax staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- CPA designation with completion of the In-Depth Tax Course or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years of Canadian income tax experience in public accounting or industry.
- Strong understanding of Canadian corporate tax legislation.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
