POSITION SUMMARY
The Vertiv Global Technical Publications team has two branches: Product Technical Documentation support and Portfolio Marketing support. The Sr. Writer, Electrical Engineering will write for the Portfolio Marketing support branch of the team, specifically supporting the Power Management Business Unit. This position requires creation of high-quality content related to electrical engineering and power management solutions. The Sr. Writer, Electrical Engineering will craft key messaging, promotional copy, and launch collateral including, but not limited to, brochures, data sheets, application notes and video scripts. This also includes sales enablement materials like sales playbooks, presentations, and market trend reports. This position does not involve writing advertising copy or press releases. The Sr. Writer must support the Lead Writer as needed and guide junior team members to ensure quality output that meets or exceeds stakeholder expectations.
The position requires strong technical writing skills and the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear, compelling content. Additionally, the writer will attend regular update meetings or listen to recordings to stay aligned with product developments and launches. Subject matter experts (SMEs) interviews may be necessary to ensure technical accuracy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop all marketing content required for launches, lending technical expertise to suggest relevant content and creating materials based on inputs from offering teams.
- Create sales enablement materials such as sales playbooks, competitive analysis, and market trend reports supporting global sales teams in understanding new product launches and industry developments.
- Ensure outputs are high-quality and meet the needs of key stakeholders like product management, sales, and leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including offering management, engineering, launch leads, and sales, to ensure the accuracy and relevance of content. May conduct SME interviews to gather necessary technical details.
- Manage content production and proactively communicate status to stakeholders.
- Ensure all content adheres to brand standards, maintaining consistency in messaging and alignment with global marketing objectives.
- Maintain accuracy and revision control, revising drafts based on feedback from approvers and ensuring final drafts have gone through the necessary review processes.
- Able to manage multiple complex project schedules across multiple product lines and businesses.
- Write and edit content in clear, concise English. Ensure the clarity, completeness, accuracy and quality of generated documents. Troubleshoot issues and ensure consistent high quality.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required. Experience in the electrical engineering industry, particularly in power management, is a strong plus.
- At least 5-7 years of experience in technical writing, copywriting, or content creation, ideally with a technology vendor or within the data center industry.
- Fluency in English, with excellent technical writing and editing skills is required.
- Ability to quickly understand power management solutions and complex engineering concepts.
- Experience writing technical documentation such as white papers, brochures, and sales enablement materials.
- Experience working with global teams and managing content for diverse markets is a plus.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines on multiple concurrent projects.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and digital asset management (DAM) tools is a plus.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering teams, SMEs, and global stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite tools and Adobe Acrobat DC Pro, and experience with desktop publishing tools.
- Successful execution of global product launches, delivering all required content, sales playbooks, and competitive and market information on time.
- High quality of content with minimal revisions required after the review process.
- Satisfaction of cross-functional teams, particularly the Power Management Business Unit, with the quality and accuracy of technical content.
- Consistent delivery of accurate, compelling content that supports Vertiv’s sales efforts and enhances product understanding globally.
