Your Role - What You’ll Do 

As a Financial Planning Intern, you’ll assist your team in servicing clients through holistic financial planning and client relationship support. This position provides the opportunity to develop foundational advisory, consultative, and business development skills through hands-on experience supporting Advisors through client onboarding, meeting preparation, and the creation of financial plans. 

At Mariner, your growth matters. Through your internship, you will: 

  • Observe client meetings (where appropriate) to gain firsthand experience in how Advisors build relationships and solve client challenges. 
  • Participate in client meeting follow-up tasks including documentation, research, and solution development. 
  • Contribute ideas during team discussions on improving client service and business development opportunities. 
  • Support client service activities, including account maintenance and money movement processes. 
  • Use financial planning and CRM software to assist with plan development and data management. 
  • Assist with data entry, plan modeling, and compiling plan deliverables. 
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects and client service initiatives. 
  • Support client onboarding by preparing and processing necessary paperwork.

  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn about financial markets, planning strategies, and client motivations and decision-making. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with a willingness to learn financial planning tools and CRM systems. 
  • Required Qualifications: 
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree with an expected graduation date within 12 months of the start of the internship (May 2026). 
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through work or extracurricular activities. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Majoring in Financial Planning, Wealth Management, Finance, Economics, Psychology, Communications, Marketing, Sociology, or a related field. 
  • Interest in pursuing a client-facing advisory career, with a focus on business development and relationship management. 

 

Internship Eligibility: 

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship needs. 
  • Available full-time during Summer 2026 (8–10 weeks). 

 

Physical Demands/Requirements: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those requirements employees must meet to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations. While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information. The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations and may lift, push, pull or move 10 - 15 pounds. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Our compensation reflects the cost of talent across multiple US geographic markets. The hourly pay for this position is based on geographic work location and ranges from $21 - $26 per hour.
