  • Building next-generation manufacturing platforms that reduce defects, boost throughput, and enhance safety across Ford’s global factories.
  • Design and develop high-performance applications and services for real-time factory orchestration and diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—embedded systems, hardware engineers, and data scientists—to bring the digital twin of Ford’s factory to life.
  • Contribute to real-time insight generation that allows operators and machines to make proactive decisions.
  • Participate in developing Ford’s first in-house diagnostics platform for real-time assembly insights.



 

What you'll do…
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable applications and backend services for the workstation within the factory
  • Manage a high performing team of application developers and deliver quality software fast and at scale
  • Maintain a 50-50 split between management and contributing to the code base through: ideation, design, coding, testing, deployment and support.
  • Mentor entry-level and senior engineers, growing their skills and maximizing their impact at Ford.
  • Define operational and technical direction for the product, evaluating new technologies or patterns.
  • Ensure the team writes clean, testable, and maintainable code in line with industry best practices by being a hands-on leader.
  • Maintain your personal skills and actively research best practices in the industry, suggesting new findings.
  • Support your team's solutions through the full development lifecycle including production.


 

You'll have…
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 8 years of professional software development experience, including at least 4 years managing a software team, building solutions at scale
  • 4 years of experience building full-stack applications in production environments, with proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and backend frameworks including Next.js, Node.js, Python or Go
  • 2 years experience with database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and API design (REST/GraphQL)
  • 1 year experience deploying and maintaining applications in cloud-native environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, Azure, GCP) 
Even better, you may have..  
  • Experience deploying and maintaining applications in a factory or IOT environment
  • Exposure to real-time systems or manufacturing data workflows a big plus
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, hardware and project engineering teams
