Job Description
As the Financial Crimes Fraud Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in the success of the Bank’s Enterprise Financial Crimes Compliance Programs through supervising the Bank’s financial crimes fraud team performing end-to-end investigations of fraud activities throughout the enterprise. Reporting to the Director Financial Crimes Fraud Prevention-Detection, as a member of the Fraud Team, the Financial Crimes Fraud Supervisor will oversee a team of fraud investigators in their daily investigative efforts to include alert and case dispositions and ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of regulatory reporting in addition to working their own alert and case load. The role will include supervisory level oversight along with production obligations. The ideal candidate will have a leadership background with a minimum of eight years’ experience in financial crimes focusing on fraud prevention, detection, investigations, and compliance at a Financial Institution.
RequirementsResponsibilities:
· Supervise a team of Fraud Investigators performing fraud alert reviews, case investigations, and regulatory reporting; review their investigative reports; provide guidance and direction; and ensure the quality of their work.
· Review fraud alerts and cases including, but not limited to, potential fraudulent checks, mobile deposits, real-time transactions, account applications and other financial transactions.
· Completing fraud investigations with documentation summarizing the background, root cause of the fraud, outcome, and findings. Cases must be completed with sufficient detail so individuals within Financial Crimes and other
lines of business can understand the particulars of the case.
· Research and answer questions from various lines of business or external partners regarding fraud matters and cases. The Supervisor should be clear and professional in their communication and exercise sound judgement in
determining the need to escalate.
· Identify and analyze new and emerging patterns of fraud, identifying any need for tuning/calibration of the transaction monitoring system(s), and working with the Director of Fraud Prevention-Detection to implement new controls.
· Continually assess fraud prevention, detection, and mitigation controls, processes, and technology solutions throughout the bank, in addition to participation in the annual enterprise fraud risk assessment.
· Liaison with law enforcement, financial institutions, merchants, and customers to stay abreast of current fraud trends, mitigate fraud losses, and maximize recoveries.
· Ensure investigators complete clear, comprehensive, and accurate Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) on fraud matters in accordance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Bank policy.
· Ensure investigators rectify all quality and control errors identified by the Financial Crimes Quality Assurance and Controls Testing Team, and provide remedial training, as necessary, to address persistent issues.
· Ensure investigators meet all established SLAs for alerts and cases.
· Thorough understanding of complex Fraud typologies; governing regulations including Reg E, Reg Z, Reg CC, UDAAP, KYC, and FACTA; and the ability to communicate them effectively.
· Expertise in check fraud including initiating, creating, and responding to Hold Harmless Agreements and Breach of Warranty claims.
· Address all quality and controls gaps noted by the Financial Crimes Quality Assurance and Controls Testing team as they relate to fraud investigations and reporting.
· Assist the Director of Fraud Prevention-Detection with the development and delivery of fraud awareness training to associates and customers.
· Assist the Director of Fraud Prevention-Detection with ensuring the ID Theft Red Flags Program is operating as intended
· Support projects related to fraud prevention, detection, mitigation, remediation, and education as a subject matter expert.
· Work collaboratively across various lines of business to assist with detecting and deterring fraud against the Bank and its customers.
· Stay informed on evolving trends and regulations related to Fraud and the Banking industry, through continuing education
· Will assist in the preparation of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) if/when needed when not serving as the initial reviewer.
Experience and skills:
· Minimum of eight (8) years of Fraud experience, within the Banking industry preferred.
· Bachelor's degree not required but preferred
· Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Anti-Money Laundering and Fraud Professional (CAFP) certifications preferred.
· Knowledge of banking products, financial institutions, and the regulations governing them including Reg E, Reg Z, Reg CC, UDAAP, KYC, and FACTA.
· Knowledge of the ID Thef Red Flags Rule and experience with an IDTRF Program
· Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to investigating fraud.
· Experience with the Verafin and Yellow Hammer system.
· Experience with Debit card, Zelle (including the Jack Henry Zelle platform), disputes
· Prior experiencing filing Suspicious Activity Reports (Ss) is preferred.
· Supervisory experience is preferred.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and strong time management skills.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
· Must have the ability to multi-task, adapt to changing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
