General Position Summary:
Makes adjustments or operates machines following instructions by machinists. Maintains equipment and documents activities according to preventive maintenance program. Loads equipment and tools as requested. Operates manual equipment, including manual lathe, mill, and grinders. Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is functioning in a n efficient and safe manner.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Follow instructions from the machinist to assist with running of jobs.
- Load stock and prep workstations and perform various machine shop operations.
- Lead day to day cleanup activities and preventative maintenance program.
- Detect and report defective materials, suspected material non-conformance, or questionable conditions to lead or manager.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.
- Communicate problems or relevant information to machinists to ensure efficient operation of equipment.
- Load and unload materials and stocks shelves
- Inspect, count, and prepare finished machined components.
- Assist in equipment setup operations, including minor setup and tool installation/removal
- Assist in other work areas, including but not limited to, polishing, deburring, mill operation, grinding and assembly.
- Verifies counts and posts completed material quantities in the Shop-Trak system.
- Stages and ensures proper documentation for materials needing outside processing.
- Receives, inspects, and stocks incoming materials as needed.
- Adheres to all Company policies and procedures including safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
- Minimum two years of similar experience.
- Able to read and understand written and oral instructions.
- Team orientation and attention to detail and quality.
- Able to cross train in a variety of entry level positions.
- Forklift qualified.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft computer software products (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
Job Conditions:
This employee normally operates in an office environment and occasionally in a manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit; manipulate objects, tools, computer keyboard and controls; walk, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl for long periods of time. May be required to lift up to 30lbs. and lift more than 30 lbs with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to focus, and the ability to distinguish colors. The employee will work near and/or with moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles where use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required. Some job pressure exists in the balancing of several projects with conflicting and sometimes changing deadlines. Ability to operate telephones and computer hardware and software, including keyboard and 10-key.
